9th November

finally fitted bumper end caps on my discovery, they have been missing for about 8 months, one of the first things ripped off 1st 4wd trip along with the plastic spoiler that's mounted to the bottom of the front bumper, bit of a daft idea to have a chin spoiler on a 4wd who knows what landrover ...

Re: newbie from Dan Carter country(Southbridge Canterbury)

access to the Selwyn near coe's ford is pretty restricted chains, wire rope and gates making it hard to get near the river. A month or so ago I had my 4wd friend call me late on a Sunday arvo said he was stuck in the Selwyn up near Hororata in need of a tow, when I found him his safari was up to its ...

Re: Impressions of Hankook Dynapro MT RT03

This is encouraging, I need new tyres for my discovery, as its my daily driver I've been contemplating running muds all the time I'm doing 500k's a week, can't afford two sets of wheels and tyres and the hassle of changing wheels to go off road doesn't appeal. Are any of you running these tyres all ...

Re: Anyone for some river crossing practice Chch?

Hi Flatsix I too have a series 1 disco, had it 8months now its my daily driver clocking 500k's a week commuting to work v8 an all. I ripped the plastic spoiler and bumper end caps off first time I went for a play in the waimak, damn shingle bank. Used mine to rescue my friends Safari when he got it ...

Re: Hurunui track

Thanks for the input, had lowered tyre pressure to 24psi wasn't keen to go lower without tubes. And I will look into tyre options as i will need new tyres for next wof in Jan 2014, too poor to replace before then.

Hurunui track

Sunday august 25th went on high country farm track with a couple of friends, track located just north of the Hurunui river in Canterbury it meanders over the hills and drops into cheviot, gave myself a fright when the disco decided to go sideways down hill on a muddy section of track wasn't much fun ...

Canterbury Land Rover

I recently had work done on my Land rover discovery done by Canterbury land rover in Christchurch, diagnose and replace faulty abs sensor, they quoted $304 the actual bill was $244, I was happy with that, the drivers door catch was a bit sticky had to be forceful to open door, they advised me that ...

newbie from southbridge canterbury

I joined ORE in 2011, and have been trolling the forums for inspiration for buying a 4wd, had always liked the idea of a land rover discovery, so today I bought a 1997 v8 disco , Having daily driven a holden calais 5.0 v8 for the last 6 months I figure the fuel bill shouldn't be too different ...

Re: newbie from Dan Carter country(Southbridge Canterbury)

Thanks guys for your replies and input, to "overkill", I guess its typical of a mechanic to advise steering clear of disco's but I know people still buy them regardless I know any vehicle can be a source of drama and issues, I might be wise to keep my trusty nissan primera car to get me to work when ...
