Running on AvGas
Hi there, a friend has access to avgas, octane 100 leaded etc, just wondering what adjustments would need to be made to the engine? It's a 1.6 Lada motor, standard carbs etc. And would the engine be able to handle the difference in burn of the fuel?

Re: Lada battery light illuminating
Guess this is kinda irrelevant now, but I had a similar problem. The battery wasn't charging and I got to the stage where the battery was too flat to supply power to the coil, thus no spark. All it turned out to be was a dislodged alternator fuse. Maybe something for future problem encounterer's to ...

Lada Hamburg?
Just curious if anyone has dealt with or used this website for parts? I know they're in Germany so postage may be pretty pricey :L http://www.lada-hamburg.de/home/129101691/

Awesome, thanks for your help

Re: Dying SJ
Thanks for all the help! The mechanic said he found a replacement F10A engine for him, but for $800, so he said he would keep looking. But He appreciates all of your helpful suggestions!

Re: The Dreaded CV's...
Okay, are my splines 22 or 23? I have seen new ones on the Lada Hamburg website, and the splines are either 22 for the older models or 24 for the newer ones...?
Dying SJ
A mate recently purchased a SJ410, and just found the oil ring broke, and resulted in the bore being scratched, so now needs either an engine re-build or replacement engine. Has this happened to anyone before? And what engines are best for swapping into? I've heard and seen the 4K swap, just curious ...

The Dreaded CV's...
I am hoping anyone has some spare CV's to fit a Lada Niva? Or if anyone knows of alternate CV's that fit? Preferably in South Island
Thanks

Re: whats hot/not about LADAs?
If your gonna be cruising up river beds etc definitely do diff breathers and a snorkel. Saves you your engine and $50 or so on oil every time water gets in your diffs. Oh and transfer case and gearbox if your gonna do them. Although they can be quite hard to get to. Anyway, here's some info on them:

Re: Bighorn shocks into Taiga?
Right, yeah good idea, I might have to try and find someone who has some, if not my mate's a mechanic so he may have some lying around or something. Thanks for the idea!

Re: Bighorn shocks into Taiga?
Okay cool, thanks for that. Oh and do you know if the Bighorn or Terrano shocks offer longer travel than the Niva/Taiga's?

Re: Bighorn shocks into Taiga?
Umm just longer shocks in the back, and taking out a few leaf's to loosen up the back and allow more articulation. Planning to put some cut HQ springs up front relatively soon, but no shocks there. Yet...

Bighorn shocks into Taiga?
I have found the standard shocks on a '91 Taiga to be pretty limiting with their length of travel and have wheel-off-the-ground scenarios multiple times a trip. I noticed the Bighorn shocks have both the eyes facing the same direction, like out Taiga's. Would this mean they are compatible? And has ...

Suzuki (or Lada) Mud tires and rims
Hi all.
Am after some decent mud tires, 6mm at least, on rims with a 5x139.7 PCD. This is on Suzuki's, Lada's and old Jeeps I believe.
Preferably in South Island to

Re: Newbie with a Taiga!
Sure is wonderful, lucky to be here I think Certainly have, many more on the way to! And the dreams and ridiculous thoughts to haha. It's been passed through the family I believe. My Grandfather bought it new in '91 and he used it on our farm (at that stage 110 acres) Then about 5 years ago we ...

Newbie with a Taiga!
Hi everyone! Just thought I'd introduce myself. Located in Wanaka and fortunately live on 37 acres of freedom. Even better, we have direct access to the Cardrona river, our main weekend playground. I currently have a 1991 Lada Taiga, 90% stock at the mo. All I have done is larger shackles at the ...
