Re: How's many Km's does a 1KD take until it makes some powe
Here in Nelson the backside of the spooners range a nice reasonably steep consistent gradient and a straight piece of road. At the top of the passing lane's foot flat in 4th gear it does 94km/h ,same speed as my old 04 hilux used to do at that point both with same tyres/load etc everyday. Thought it ...

How's many Km's does a 1KD take until it makes some power??
Driving my new lux with 13,000kms on the clock so far, hitting the same hill with the same load, same tyres etc in 4th gear foot flat everyday and at the top it is still only doing the same speed as my old 1kz hilux. Have heard a few guy's say it won't be any good until there's around 50,000km's on ...

Re: Adding 2-stroke oil to diesel?
Thought I'd try this out cos the old 2.8's got half a mill
on the clock and she's noisy as, been running 300mls to a tank
of diesel. Definitely make's it run alot quieter and smoother, but for
what the oil costs dunno if it'd be worthwhile doing it all the time.

Re: 1kz into ln106
That's what I thought until I did them myself to a good standard then took it for cert and they wouldn't have a bar of it unless I could prove the person who did them was qualified. Very big hassle and alot of running around to finally get them to pass it. Went back to the cert guy 3 times, but I ...

Re: 1kz into ln106
Any engineering place/automotive workshop would be able to do it as it's piss easy just cut the old ones off move back a few mm on each side and weld them on again. Also just make sure that whoever does the welding is a certified welder and get proof. Otherwise you might run into problems when you ...

Re: Failed WOF on Torque Rod loose at engine ? & spring bus
Never hear of failing a wof for cracked alternator belts,
wouldn't have thought that would be a wof issue.
Interesting to see

Re: KZJ78 Failed LVVC.- Rim Width
I got cert for my ln106 with 15x10 inch rims and 35's Kumho KL's
only thing needed was a set of flexi flares and the cert guy was happy
even though the tyres were borderline sticking out past the flares, depends where you take it I guess.

Re: Opinion's on sheep shagger hilux's
Thanks for the info so far, that blocked oil pickup looks nasty,
I've driven both I like the power/handling/room in the shagger model,
but the reliability and off road ability's of them just don't match up to
the older version, going to be a hard choice....

Opinion's on sheep shagger hilux's
Hi guys, It's time for a upgrade and my two options are for 25K I could get either a 05/06 shagger shape lux with around 200-250km or for the same money a older say 02 to 04 shape 1kz hilux. Heard alot of horror storys about the 1kd d4d engines being very costly to maintain/injectors/clutchs etc. So ...

Re: Getting the most out of a 2.8
I find that pretty hard to believe,I've driven through thick gorse on a daily basis and never had any problems with it getting past the K&N the airbox can be fully clogged with debris take the filter out, look down the middle and it's still spotless,so obviously doing it's job.

Re: Getting the most out of a 2.8
Personally I would'nt bother putting a turbo on a 2.8 engine, I've seen many fail over the years, sooner or later they get too hot and melt, save your pennys and do it right with a 1Kz transplant instead if you intend to keep the truck. Having driven over half a million km's in various 2.8's over the ...

Re: Turbo muffler
Only problem with no muffler is in NZ we need one for wof... From virm; Exhaust system means a pipe assembly through which the engine exhaust gases pass to the atmosphere and includes some means of sound reduction such as a silencer or resonator I put on a 3 inch straight pipe system on my hilux, 1 ...

Best Insurance Companys for modified 4wd's
Hi all, have had a browse through this section but as far as I can see no one has covered this yet? Just wondering what insurance company people would recommend as the main one's State,Ami etc don't seem interested in having a bar of insuring modified 4wd's. Wanting to insure a hilux d/cab lifted on ...
