Thanks guys....hope you all keep the shiney(er) side up and the oily side down for the trip and have a ball with minimal damage. Please.... encourage the TREAD LIGHTLY philosophy over here.... Having said that, others have said on here that turboed vehicles don't need spark arrestors. What is the informed reasoning behind this? I figure that the spark arrestor catches any sparks from the engine by very simply giving it something to hit to interfere with its path and therefore extinguish ...

Here's the piccies of one I made from a sheet of guaze/mesh....similar to what Lilpigzuk has alluded too. Yep - Firestones - not as aggressive as teh ATX23's they put out. Seem to be more of an AT than MT. Had some on the old Safari - both RMT's and ATX's.

Big River is always a favourite. (Just stay outta the mud-hole at the old Merrijigs Hotel site . About 12 km from the turn-off to Big River. Lotsa locals & DOC getting pissed off with the damage done at this location) Montgomery Hut - up the Waitahu River - depending on river flows Sawpit Road ...
