And have a good supply of clean dry compressed air, may mean fitting a dry filter to your existing compressor, the liners don't like any sort of moisture and it's frustrating having the jet cutout 'cos your compressor can't keep up. And get yourself plenty of spare tips and electrodes, it's a shit ...

using a mini-spool to lock a diff

Hi I've just bought a Jeep CJ3B with later model dana 44 diffs fitted front and rear. As it's used only in mud and grass, I'm thinking a locked rear would be the go, what's the advantages of a fully locked diff to a sometimes locked diff? ie, spool verser locker? The mini spools and full spools seem ...

Yeah, that makes sense. Cheers. I had a few cracks at the same patch and I think I was probably feathering the brake more than I should have, which just made it skid...they pick up a bit of speed going backwards eh!
That was a quick leason learnt.
Thanks.

Yeah maybe when I learn how to drive I'll think more power is better, I was on some nice grassy hills today, just sat there throwing mud and grass forward but going nowhere. What's the done thing when you lose momentum on a hill...? she was a bit hairy coming back down backwards. It's my first 4wd ...

Nah it's got the standard stromberg carb, motor runs well and there's plenty of power (for a ~30 year old design motor), I'd be more worried about it poo-ing out some diff parts before losing ground through lack of torque I just thought that being a very common motor and the hilux boxes being pretty ...

Holden 6cyl to Hilux 5speed, bellhousing and clutch

Hi.

Does anyone know where I could get a bellhousing to join a 202 Holden with a Toyota Hilux 5 speed gearbox and transfercase. And what's the chances of finding a suitable cluth plate? would I use a toyota or holden item?

Thanks.

help with drum brakes linings

Hi, I've just taken the front hubs of a mahindra jeep and the brake linings fell straight of the shoes. Is it possible to buy replacement shoes or will they need to be manually relined?
Cheers.

Converting 87 Hilux SSR to solid front end, what's the guts?

Hi, I have been offered a 1987 hilux surf cheap. it's an import with 2.4 TD, manual with power steer, and idependant front suspension. I've been told it's a bit of a pig and would make a good project. Other than a diff, what parts are needed to do the swap over to a solid front axle. Any help really ...
