Found the 410 ratio countershaft and output gear but only a 29 tooth input gear? Think the original one was 31? Or close. But may be same dia with less toothcount?

Are those 31's on a 7" rim. Sounds about right as factory is +5 on 5.5 wide rims. So keeping similar backspacing would require bout -13 to 14. Is there a spring lift in there also? Thanks

You can buy tie rod spreaders ( like gear/bearing pullers) put it under tension then give it a tap. Or find some 15mm plate, chop a gap in the middle and mill an angle on it.... bash with a 4lb hammer, works if the nut is at the top. And do measure from the back of the nut to a fixed referance point ...

I cant argue with that ^^ , I did the front shocks while I owned it. They did work very well when I took the ute offroad and it stuck to the seal.

I wouldnt get too carried away with welding up holes etc.. the SJ has passed around 3 WOF's with seatbelts attached and no rear seat, I believe its just changing it on the reg (4 to 2 seats) but I havnt and its not been a prob

2.8 is possibly a 3L? looks like the stud is the tricky one to find - id be fkd if I was going to re tap a nut... it will be a std thread. Bet a box if you call toyota it will be common across the "L" series of oil burners eg 2, 3, 5 etc
