Re: gps,which type?
Evening All, Interesting comments - most folks I know who are going off the beaten track have a handheld unit. Some I know are into geo caching too. They all swear by a dedicated handheld device. For my two cents on this my old handheld used AAA batteries. This meant I could easily carry spares and ...

60 leaves in the rear - longer, flatter springs. Seems to have more down travel than up travel.
Also extended the bump stops and added and anti-tramp bar to stop the spring wrap.

Re: My bj73 build (Nothing special)
Looking sharp... I did shiver when I saw the forklift holding it up for the new springs and lockers going in. I have a BJ74 with a spring over. Plenty flexy... But is has longer 60 series leaves on the back and a modified spring pack in the front so the springs are essentially flat and not as ...

Just as tucktrucker says.. the crimped end piece is your high/low limit
My second car was an 87 Pulsar with a CA16DE in it with the ubiquitous wire dipstick.

Aftermarket stereo to OEM steering wheel controls...
Evening, A question for all you auto sparkies and wannabes out there in ORE land. Situation My daily driver is an 05 Mazda Tribute, it has steering audio controls from factory. I recently installed a Philips car audio double DIN touchscreen unit. It has inputs for these controls and can "learn" the ...

Re: mu or a suzuki ???
I used to a Suzuki SJ413 soft top. It was the big block, 1324cc of pure power. But when the whole truck weighed in at under 1100kg you didn't need much power. I had a whole heap of fun in it, although found that I spent much of my day in either one rut or the other on the track, occasionally ...

Re: WOF tire size woes...
Another (dodgier?) way is to borrow a set of the certed wheel/tyre combo? And fit them for WOF inspections... My cert plate only specifies rim size (15x8) and nothing about tyres. (33x12.5x15) My WOF guy was lamenting the other day about half of the forestry company Utes that come in for WOFs on ...

Re: Best Battery Tool Brand
The fire at that studio, and other places.. Most likely caused by a Li-Po (Lithium Polymer) battery pack. I would think anyhow. These little things are crazy powerful for their size but can go a bit nuts when things go wrong. Li-Po batteries are commonly found in R/C models and toys... As for ...

Re: WTB: 40/60/70 Series Land Cruiser Tie Rod
Hey Mehrts I needed a new LH tie rod bearing for a WOF late last year, went to Blenheim Toyota. $50 or so trade price, anyhow it came with a brand new tie rod. Let me know if you want dimensions etc. I can't use it as I have an aftermarket Hi Steer kit with bigger sized everything.. And yep, Toyota ...

Welcome .. Let the addiction begin! One piece of advice I thought particularly helpful when I started out; Seat time, get plenty of seat time find out what your truck can and cannot do. Find out what you are comfortable with too. Near vertical winch walls are not everyone's cup of tea no matter what ...

Re: Wheel bearing pre-load 80 series
Not sure that I would alter pre-load torques based on tyre size.
Basically more pre-load equals more lateral load on the bearing and too much will cause it to run hotter than normal. Hot bearings not good..
My 2.5cents..
Cheers

Re: Another cert question, swapping wheels
Interesting my truck, I bought it already certified, has 15x8 listed on the plate. At the last WOF inspection they wanted to pull it up for having modified rims, which it was certified on, as the offset has changed from when they were manufactured. Which is true, but they only reason they noticed ...
