G'day mate. What part of the country are you in? Also, your tie-rod etc, will it fit a 1995 XJ, does anyone know?

Cheers

Re: liftin jeep

Don't quote me, but I think you'll need around a 6" lift to avoid trimming panels. You'll have a bunch of other things to rectify with that sort of lift though. I think you can get away with 3 - 3.5" lift and pull out the angle grinder to "encourage" the tires to fit. Don't forget to upgrade ...

Sandman, Sent you a PM confirming i'd be keen to help where I can. Local to Rotorua, but no special digging equipment, just some arms and legs and a shovel.

Re: Death Wobble

Cheers bob_or_jim. Appreciate the advice. Would it be worth getting a wheel alignment now, or wait for a month or so when I get my new set of tyres, or are alignments irrelevant of tyres?

Track Bar for XJ

Does anyone know where I can get a new trackbar for a 1995 XJ? I have seen one on Trademe but would prefer to buy from NZ instead of giving money to Aussie company? Offroad Specialties seem to be offline at present so unable to check with them.
Cheers

Is it best to try replacing the bushes on track bar or replace whole bar?

Thanks, appreciate any advice.

Re: Death Wobble

Thanks for that pmfg will check these.

I did try google for an answer to the DW but found so many conflicting suggestions that it seemed like the only response was to replace everything in the front suspension and steering.

Death Wobble

Wondering if there is a methodical process to try and pin point what is causing death wobble on a 1995 XJ Cherokee?

It kicks in at about 110km/h and I was hoping there may be a list of culprits that can be checked?

XJ and the family.

Hello from sunny Rotorua (well at least today anyway). I have a 95 XJ and we use it as a family touring vehicle to go camping and on day trips etc. We have a young family that seems to be growing up fast and the XJ is not growing to accommodate. Question is, should be invest more money on the XJ by ...

Re: Which Portable GPS Unit

I have hema maps running on iPad mounted on ram mount. Works really well, and the logging functions are great. Configuring real time OBD dashboard as well as tons of music to enjoy at your finger tips, like wheels on the bus for the kids in the back :D

Re: 1995 XJ starter motor

Cheers guys, I'll check them out. Thought I had a flat battery at first, charged overnight, still really slow turnover, got a new battery and exactly the same thing. Chucked multimeter on new battery and is good so to the alternator (14.7v).

Unless I'm missing something else?

Thanks

Re: Camping Suggestions

Went for a drive out to Tarawera outlet today to scope it out. Paid my $5 permit fee, kids loved it, did a bit of exploring, only thought of camera on drive home. I must keep a camera in the jeep for these types of things. Anyway, thanks for the outlet recommendation, would be awesome for a group ...

Nice setup Furgus. How long have you had the camper trailer?

I'm keen to go to Stony Bay or Port Jackson at the top. Might go sooner rather than later ;)

Re: Camping Suggestions

Haven't tried the Tarawera outlet, but heard good things about it. Funny how you don't tend to think of the places on your doorstep. I'd be keen to see other users photos of their camp setups, i'll post some photos after our next excursion, hopefully make a long weekend out of Waitangi day. Cheers ...

Re: Cargo barriers

I think I would feel more comfortable knowing the kids are sitting in front of a cargo barrier as opposed to a dog barrier. Seems like smaller objects could still fit through the gaps in a pet barrier.

Cheers Phraza,

I have seen those before instore, wasn't sure if they would be strong enough, although I guess if they stop a dog flying forwards they should stop camping equipment etc?

Would be good to have a thread where members can post photos/details/coordinates etc of their favourite camp sites? Maybe there already is a thread and I just have not found it...I am an XJ Jeep owner after all :)

Re: Cargo barriers

Would the nets be strong enough? We mostly use the jeep for camping and touring around so conscious of kids in back seat getting hit by stuff....although sometimes...(just kidding)

Never thought of eBay due to shipping and organizing that.

Thanks
