WTB 4x4 for hunting
Hey guys looking for a hunting truck.
Not looking for anything flash, maybe something with bigger tires.
Would prefer a petrol but wont be considering anything with more than four cylinders.
Canterbury area.

Re: Gutless 91 GQ
That and i wanted convincing i didnt need to fork out 3 grand for a turbo conversion! Either way the situation has improved and i no longer feel the need to trade it in for something newer. Actually I'm now thinking about selling my other vehicle to buy a SWB Safari to take on a project... Factory ...

Re: Gutless 91 GQ
Just got back from Nelson yesterday, driving through the Lewis Pass the truck definitely had more power on the hills and I reckon my fuel consumption was better as well.
Easily pays for itself I would say, picked up 1 liter from Repco for $26.

Re: Gutless 91 GQ
Would anyone advise against bolting on an aftermarket turbo kit?
It's probably done about 300 thousand kms but considering its had a partial rebuild in the last 5 years, if i ran low boost (8-9psi) would I still get a decent life span out of it with proper maintenance?

Re: Gutless 91 GQ
So I went back to the injector pump guy here in Ashbburton and after he had a nosey under the bonnet, showed me the date mark that coincidently he put on the injector pump 5 years ago when he reconditioned it. Small world! He also believes my injector were done at the same time, also there are paint ...

Re: Gutless 91 GQ
Ok so just been in and removed the banjo off the fuel return line. No quick fix for me unfortunantly. Mine does not have a banjo gauze.
Next step im guessing is to have my injector nozzles looked at. Anyone advise against getting reconditioned nozzles vs getting new ones?

Re: Gutless 91 GQ
Have gone through and done the basics, air cleaner and fuel filter with no progress on the smoke at this stage but judging by the black sludge i saw inside the old fuel filter i guess it will be running better by defualt. Spoke with a deisel pump reconditioner here in Ashburton and he suggested with ...

Re: Terrano Questions
Yes both are r50, QD32 is a G3M-r and the TD27 is a R3M-r Limited.
What are the gremlins that i need to watch out for?
In the listing for the QD32 it mentions that is has "power take off"
What does that mean?
Cheers

Terrano Questions
Hey guys, am looking at selling my Safari GQ for a smaller 4WD, most likely to be a Terrano. Am looking at two here in CHCH at the moment one a TD27 with 178 kms and a QD32 with 248 kms. Aside from the obvious difference of kms can i get some opinions on which would be the better option. Not looking ...

Hey guys Got panhard rod sorted, failed WOF on front left drag link ball joint. Apparently there is too much play in it now. Tried packing it with grease but no luck. Re: Wanted: GQ Safari front Panhard rod
So are the panhard rods the same dimensions? Could i make an L shaped braket to suit the rod i got yesterday and put that on my truck?
The rod i got yesterday is for the set up that has the stabiliser mount to the chasis.

Re: Wanted: GQ Safari front Panhard rod
Have just learnt (the hard way) that there are two different set ups for front suspension on Safaris and unfortunantly the panhard rod i got yesterday does not have the mount for the steering damper which is what is broken on my truck. Does anyone have a panhard rod WITH the steering damper mount ...

Re: Wanted: GQ Safari front Panhard rod
Have managed to get one from Nelson, cheers team.
Next question, have purchased some Nolathane bushs to replace the standard ones when i swap it over, does anyone see it being an issue that the new ones will be nolathen and the old standard ones on the other rod are going to stay rubber?
