89 SWB TD42 with 288000km standard 31inchs tyres - I'm getting around 11 - 11.5l/100km at the moment but thats mostly open road trips to hunting grounds etc. Quite happy with that it I think.

Input shaft bearing safari gearbox
Hey all,
I can't find any literature on how to change etc but the diagrams in the manual show its held in by a circlip. Is it a simple case of taking the circlit out and the bearing will follow or does the gbox case need to be split?
td42 engine.
Cheers,
Grant

Re: WTB Rear Quarter (side) Rubbers SWB
Hey Guys,
Yeah thats what I thought. I'll get a quote from our local glass guy and go from there. I've checked the Aussie sites and they're in a similar boat to us. I'm surprised someone hasn't done an alternative.
Thanks,
Grunta

Clutch noise?
Hey All, As some of you may know, I've put a new clutch in my 89 SWB Safari - TD42, I've run into 2 issues that I believe are related. There's a noise coming from the gearbox sounding like a knock/rattle. As soon as I put the clutch in it goes. Now as soon as the old girl warms up this noise goes ...

TD42 Tach sensor vs TD27 Tach sensor
Hi Guys, Out of curiosity and this could be a stupid question but they look the same, the electrical wires are the same color except shorter. So knowing that it would all plug and bolt in is it fair to say they are interchangeable? I'm having a really hard time getting a second hand one for the TD42 ...

Never again!! Clutch change.
Hey all, Well today was clutch day. I brought an 89 SWB safari a few weeks ago and the previous owner said the clutch was the only thing wrong with it, but that it still had a good 5 - 10000km on it. Well after a test drive I told him i would be surprised if I made the 350km trip home! after some ...

Just what i wanted to hear, I've got a pretty tight time frame on taking the gbox out and getting the flywheel to the engineer to skim before he goes on holiday and being flat he can do it quicker!! cheers Jono!

89 safari Tacho dead
Hi All, Finally bit the bullet and brought a 89 swb safari problem is the tacho isn't working not a biggie, but I would like it to work. I've done some research but there seems to be no way of testing the sensor? is this correct? All the other gauges work in the cluster so I would have thought it ...
