Thank you everyone for the advice, i went to vtnz today and now my rego has been cut back from +$600 a year to just $400 a year im very happy and no longer need to think about selling my baby The truck was classed as a light goods wagon, "Type 8" and now has been changed to private use Im very happy ...

I have found you can change your Class of rego, have done a safari and my brother did a fj40, it cannot be a ute as they have there own class which is combined with the commercial and is decided by load carring capiblities, this being said if you have a full cab 4x4 and in the class for ute ...

On my bj41 i find that my rego cost a lot more then your normal 4wd How much are you talking? Most 4x4 are in the range 400-600 a year IINM, Diesel under 2500cc are cheaper than those over 2500cc, but Petrol are cheaper again, and Utes are more expensive than SUV type. As for motors, so if the motor is the same apart from like cc ratings its ok for it to bolt straight in and be legal?

Hi all im having problems With my handbrake, It says in the manual its limit is 161mm dia And the drum is already at this size, What i would like to know does anyone have a spare drum going or could i put a sleeve in it? also was the smallest dia it can be made?

Just noticed the doors are single pane glass and not with quarter windows (just what I was after). What year did they come out? Where do you park it - I might borrow the doors for my rod. It's a 1980 Bj41, Jap Import, lol Im pretty sure i have seen some single pane doors on trade me not long ago ...

Im a happy toyota owner got some decent springs in the front and back and thanks to Heath i got a fiber glass mud guard And pop it on No probs!

Truck now drives nice and hopefully will for a while (touch wood) lol

Havnt looked in the drum but everything is tighten up to the max so must be worn out shoes? where could i get some?

Help with cruiser hand brake

Hi there i got a bj40 it has the handbrake on the drive shaft, im getting the truck ready for a wof but the hand brake has no more adjustment on the leaver or down below by the drive shaft is the pads or somthing i need to replace to get it all working again?
