Re: New Jimny Sierra
We have 3 Jimny's in our club, one of which is mine (2012) and it goes everywhere. When I do get stuck it's easy to recover as it only weighs 1100kg. They use less fuel than the bigger trucks. Of course you can't carry as much stuff, but I often have 4 people in mine (2 kids under 14 in the back ...

Re: Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged
I can confirm the road is now open. Goes to show if you are persistent enough (or enough of a pain in the arse!) councils will listen. Not that they had much choice, as the law was pretty clear in this case. The illegally locked gate is open and the forestry have cleaned up all the rubbish and trees ...

Jimny Front Recovery Point (...again...I know!!)
Hi, I'm interested to know what other like minded Jimny owners have come up with for front recovery points. I know this is a constant source of discussion, but here's my experience so far: I have an after market front hook fitted to my facelift Jimny. The Japanese sourced Apio hook (6mm) has not ...

Re: Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged
After nearly 10 months of pretty much one sided correspondence with the South Waikato District Council they inform me that the welded gate at the Mamaku end of Leslie road has had the welds removed. Apparently the gate is closed, but not locked and is able to be opened and the road is accessible ...

Re: Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged
Is anyone able to confirm if the forestry has opened the gate, filled in the drain and removed the pine tree barricades from Leslie road. I'd ask the SWDC but based on my last two emails to them and their lack of replies I'm not even going to bother asking!
Cheers

Jimny Tyre Scrub
Hi all, just after some ideas, I've fitted new tyres & rims to my Jimny. Tyres are 215/75 with 15x7" Rims -15mm offset. I have a 40mm suspension lift fitted. They scrub front & rear only just, but enough to cause a problem, I'm and trying to decide if I should go for a small body lift (25mm) or trim ...

Re: Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged
I've received a letter from the South Waikato District Council (in response to an OIA request). They have instructed the forestry company to open the gate at the Mamaku end and deal to the trees. However the gate at the Putaruru end is actually on private land (outside the road legal boundary) so it ...

Re: Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged
That sounds a bit dodgy to me, I wouldn't have thought a council could just give away public land to a private enterprise! I'm also having problems to get any response from the council as well. They are completely ignoring me. It's been 4 months now since I originally contacted them...feels like I'm ...

Re: Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged
The Rotorua council have cleaned up the mess at the end of Cecil Road, although it took a while for them to even agree that they were responsible for that road! But to their credit once they realised it was in their patch they were onto it straight away. As for the intentional damage to Leslie Road ...

Re: Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged

Peter, South Waikato District Council are responsible for this road. A submission to assist with access to ...

Mamaku, Leslie Road - Intentionally Damaged
I checked out Leslie road yesterday at the Mamaku end as I had heard the gate was locked. This road goes from Mamaku, Cecil Road down to Whites Road towards Putaruru, while this isn't a hard 4WD road, it is (was) quite a nice drive, and the Mamaku end does require some decent tyres. There is a huge ...

Yup 2012 Jimny, I think I'll stick with my standard rims for a while, I don't want to do a body lift or start cutting guards.

Jimny with 15x7 Rims
Hi, This question has probably been asked over and over again...but if I change my stock Jimny rims (15x5.5) for 15x7 with a -15 offset fitted with 215/75 muds (not sure which brand yet), am I likely to have any scrubbing issues? I currently have a 40mm OME suspension lift, all the rest of the ...

Re: thompsons track
depending how far your driving to get there it might not be worth it. Its maybe 10-15min worth of driving until you get to a massive slip. Less than 5min riding on the quad. It'll take you longer than that! We took about 6hrs to do a return trip with 6 trucks last weekend. Don't even bother trying ...

I was half-prepared to be disappointed with the ...

Re: Drilling Extra Holes in Jimny Chassis for recovery point
I don't know how the body work fits around the chassis but if I had a chassis rail like that I'd be drilling through the chassis horizontally with crush tubes and plating off one or both sides. Provided you don't have any points of leverage and tie into the chassis directly going just off the ...

Drilling Extra Holes in Jimny Chassis for recovery points
Hi, I'm currently fitting some rear recovery points to my 2012 Jimny. The factory ones look to be a bit light weight (and they don't fit a 16mm shackle pin anyway). I'm setting it up so some 50 x 8mm flat bar can be bolted to the existing holes already in the recovery point. I will brace this back ...

Jimny Front Bumper Wanted
Hi, I'm after a front bumper for my facelift Jimny, but I'd like the previous version as per the pic below. I'm fairly sure it will fit, although the local dealer can't exactly confirm. Any colour, any condition as I'm going to cut the bottom half off. The new model has lower fog lights so doesn't ...

Jimny underbody Protection
Hi, Just bought myself a new Jimny so I'm sussing out all the gear I need. I've started with a set of Trepador mud tyres. Only had a small play in the mud so far but they seem pretty good. I've realised I need to fit a few skid plates underneath the Jimny as I don't want to break anything if I can ...

Thanks for the advice and yes, want to keep it road legal. Just got to get a Jimny now! Proving to be a little more difficult that I thought, last one got sold before I could look at it.
Any thoughts on Maxxis Trepador (M8060) tyres? 205/70R15

Re: Suzuki Jimny Mud Tyres
Not sure where to update profile. I'm from Hamilton. I've mainly being doing simple tag-a-long trips in our 2006 Terios, but having low ratio would open a few more runs that I haven't being able to do. Hadn't really thought about mods, but I'll start with some decent tyres and see how the Jimny ...
