Re: Tyres for the Beach AT or HT?

Went with the Falken T-110s, magic, couldn't be happier so far. Have been up Muriwai a couple of times now and whilst I haven't be cutting up the soft stuff the drive out is a lot quieter and smoother (and quicker I think). I've been trying things out a bit and I'm thinking they're a good improvemen...

Re: Tyres for the Beach AT or HT?

Thanks Derk and Chops, good info there. Yeah mostly up around Muriwai, out on the beach and not on the range. I also get up the 90 and out onto the beach north of Dargaville. The sands quite firm up South head (Kaipara) right now but it's been my experience that that will change over the next year i...

Tyres for the Beach AT or HT?

I need tyres for my 90 terrano standard rig. I'm contemplating fitting some wider tyres, 265/70/15 great for the beach and road but not much else and that suits me fine. What I don't know is, do the gains (wider tyres) outweigh the losses (fuel consumption, etc)? I went and saw tyre-busters and he w...

Terrano Floorpan Rust Repair

That's the one, the rear cabin light. I'm excited about this, I do a lot of beach fishing, 2 small mods here which would really make life a lot more pleasant when I'm out there. Thanks for posting your pics and sharing your ideas.

Yes please, more info on the light, did you wire it back to one of the sockets you put in or to the original light in the back? I like the table, I'm going to put a chopping board on. Brilliant!

Re: 1990 terreno steps that run down both sides how remove

I pulled mine off my old truck years ago. I was thankful as I managed to get myself bogged down a few times when out on Muriwai (around south head). With those things on it would have been a real pain to get around and under the truck and dig. Since then I got another truck and haven't been too both...

Re: Sway bar and steering clunk! 90 Terrano.

I got a '90 with 160k and a 92 with 340k, the 92 is gone, rusted out a bit in the columns and underneath. Engine/gearbox is a bit poked as well but we got it when it had 80k on it in 2000 and got a bloody good run out of it. It's sitting in the driveway annoying the wife, I think that's a honourable...

Re: Sway bar and steering clunk! 90 Terrano.

Thanks for your reply. I hadn't really noticed too much in the drive of the wagon so I'm happy to leave it as is for the moment although I will replace those bushes sometime soon. As for the mysterious clunk it doesn't happen all that much so I guess I'm waiting for something to come loose otherwise...

Re: Speedo is out of whack.

It's running at approximately 113kmh when the GPS reads 100kmh. I'd say that falls outside the 10% but more than that, it's noticeable at low speeds so I'd say there is a problem, I'd hoped someone might be able to point the way ahead, recal' the speedo or jump to bigger tyres. Might go see the fire...

Yeah, this is 4-5km out at low speed already. There's a few after market things in this truck that make me think one of the previous owners was a good keen man!

Speedo is out of whack.

Made a discovery last night, I've had this terrano.. 2-odd months now and I've felt it was driving 'slow', ran up my gps last night and headed out. So when my speedo says I'm doing 40km, gps has me at 35km. speedo=50km, gps=44 and so on. Quite a marked difference I'd say and even given the discrepan...

Re: 1990 Nissan Terrano Shudders When cruising.

Thanks for that, I read that same thing in the original post. I'm nowhere near ready to do anything like that but I do have my sights set on an extra cooler as I do recall my 92 used to heat right up when I used to take it north and also out on the beach. Mostly I post my comments to see what others...

SO! For anyone faintly interested I ended up taking it to AAutomoive on the shore. I rang around got some quotes it was a close run thing with GRP but being on the shore won the day. Delamintade torque converter, replaced worn band, reverse frictions and a bit of other stuff, adjusted 'stuff', flush...

Sway bar and steering clunk! 90 Terrano.

G'day, So the sway bar bushes on my terrano are knackered. My question (keep in mind I only learnt about these today when I watched bush and link pin changing on youtube) is this. How important is the sway bar, what impact is the lack of these bushes having? What are the possible impacts? I will put...

Thanks, I fully understand that but I wanted to flush it as well and see if any bits came out as well just to where we might be at, I'm hoping for confirmation rather than diagnosis/ any kind of repair. Although lengthening the time til repair would be hugely beneficial in my case. It's nearly Xmas ...

Re: VIP III, remote car starter

To be honest I'd rather get something that functions correctly and maybe even update on what's already there. I am thinking that this maybe easier to do since the connector is there that is on the ignition circuit and gearbox cutoff (or whatever it is that stops the keys from turning when it's in ge...

Re: 1990 Nissan Terrano Shudders When cruising.

Right, I'm gonna ask a noob question, I've been farting around trying to find a reference but now that I NEED it I can't find it. What's a good oil for the TD27 auto trans? I'll give that a lash in the forlorn hope that I can stave off dropping the gearbox using vicegrips and my 9v drill driver..
