Re: Z20 timing

Runs best at 12deg, everywhere else was rather flat on power.
I have also found another z20s that i can access to see what that is running.
I'll post any results once i have worked it all out.

Re: Z20 timing

And by the way, at 5deg it didn't seem to run as well. So I'll work my way to 12. & see what sounds and feels optimal

Re: Z20 timing

OK thanks. Looks like I'll just have to test it between 5- 12 deg.
I've disconnected the egr, & will run 95' so i presume it'll run best around the 8.

Any actual answer appreciated, as I'm confused over the us chassie one.
But still helpful thanks

Re: Z20 timing

Out of a 1987 nissan navara. 4 spark plug.
I'm picking it's non us model as they didn't have navara. I'm sure the 720 pickup is different but i could be wrong.

Hi.
I have just rebuilt a 1987 z20 & would like to know what the exact timing should be.
In Google i find everything from 5deg to 12deg

Re: NA20 Carb issues?

So the issue was:
1. Slightly high float level,
2. Choke wasn't fully coming off
3. Hot gas inlet from exhaust was staying active

So disconnected 2&3
Fixed the float lvl

Re: NA20 Carb issues?

But yes blue did adjust idle speed depending on the mixture.
I actually altered the stop screw first. Now that's a pig at even with air filter and housing off

Re: NA20 Carb issues?

No blue goes into the housing just in front of the throttle leaver, located at rear of the carb.

Stop screw sits on a white plastic (kind of hour glass shaped) piece, which is controlled by the auto choke located at the front.

Does that make sense?

Re: NA20 Carb issues?

Thanks,I found a stuffed spark plug earlier, running a lot better now, no sputtering etc. It does blow abit of white smoke Would the spark plug cause excess fuel consumption? Or do I need to look further??? I will post a pic here once I work out how, carbs have too many screws and adjustments for me ...

NA20 Carb issues?

Hi all. I just bought another 1990 Nissan Navara na20. The previous owner had just had the carb rebuilt, butit was idling really high cold and warm, I have adjusted the idle, but here is the big issue..... it is using a tonne of fuel, and tends to lack power and will often stutter. I have made small ...

Re: 2014 Navara St

Thanks I've been looking around.
Price may be pushing it. But working on getting them down more.

Also seen a 2014 Colorado. Very nice slightly used, but it's auto. I want manual and that's just a personal preference.

Re: Advice wanted. v6 commy into 87 navara

Nice try. But radiator cap is new. New t/stat, new waterpump and fan, new hoses, clean radiator twice, acid washed block, checked timing. Bottom hose collapses under revs when overheating. Only other thing i havent tried is taking exhaust off to check if its partly blocked.
