So if you were looking at a diesel Rangie with a cooked motor what would you look at for a repower?
Im waiting on a confirmation of year/model.
Cheers

Cheers for the info - just for feedback I ended up with a V6 MK Triton DC ute . So far so good, stock as but that will do for tripping around farms etc for freezer filling.

Re: Off-roading with airbags
yeah seatbelts can break collar bones but I figure the impact that breaks a single bone with a belt will more than break a whole person without one.
I cant find anything in my car I want to smash my face into so I wear my belt.

Re: Got the new challenger. :(
Sounds like an arse to get sorted. I have looked at so many trucks that were good on trade me and crap in person due to lack of servicing- and thats stockers. I have also sold 3 vehicle sight unseen with no issues. Dunno why people do it. You never know who you may have tucked, could be more trouble ...

Re: Mitsi V3000 Crank Seals Easy or Hard to Do ??
Most seals are pretty easy if time and patience are used liberally. It takes a shit load more time and cash to fix a garked crank than patiently remove a stubborn seal. Its been a few years but I have done a fair few - ex grease monkey. On the way out: Check how deep the seal is seated before ...

Just remember what SRS stand for
SUPPLEMENTARY restraint system. ie it supplements the seat belt.
Unless really quick smacks in the kisser appeal..... Im not so keen -waay to pretty
Good to hear people haven't had issues though as Im after a wagon with ABS and air bags.

Re: great wall utes crash test scores
KJ Cherokee rates highly. A bit of research shows they turn in BBQs when hit in the rear. Chrysler even did a recall on it. The modern Pinto?! How do older non ABS and airbag wagons get 4 stars? I dont know the system but Im buggered if I can figure a pattern/any logic. Full chassis are not good for ...
Re: Mufflers
I meant your mechanic needs to get the welder, not you mate.
Re: Mufflers
The guy needs to get a MIG welder and practice. Easy as to fit any muffler with the right dimensions, pipe entry and exit points etc. The brackets are the easy bit. Who ever fits used mufflers?! I was a mechanic for 12 years and that guy is having you on. Its a Suzuki 4x4, not a rare vintage car ...

Re: Prado Early to Late Conversion
Sell the old gear, put money toward new body appropriate gear - that clips and bolts right in.
Save more than the cost difference of the labour and lots of headaches going this easy way and not having a 02 with 97 running gear.
Just an ex mechanics thoughts.

Re: 91 vs 95
race cars use race gas.
Its a solution to a problem (high compression) rather than a performace boost. using Av or c16 wont help your 1972 corolla.
But I agree with using 95. usually better results.

Re: Some Very Amateur Panelwork
Im doing some simple rust work in a Navarra so much easier than yours and panel steel still sucks. You are doing well. I have welded a fair bit of thicker stuff (did a lot of fabrication/maintenance is a prev job) and its much easier. It doesnt vanish nearly as easily! You may find the bar work a ...

Cheers for the info. I need to check the regs, been a long time. I wasnt sure how exact it had to be in terms of a match. Its a bit of a fiddly shape with complex curves. Cutting and patching it looks like a worse job and by the tie I cut it out might as well replace it. I might go see them just to ...

Gidday An explanation and a question: The D/C Navara ute (1997) has failed the WOF for rot in the body. Its the panel running under the A/C condenser that is bolted and spot welded on.
