Re: Modified 1kz build - new intake manifold setup
FMIC is a great idea. To be honest I didn't even look into what those do or where they come from or where they go. Being as the tb isn't used anymore I connected then back up as per factory as I couldn't be bothered investigating into it haha.

Re: Modified 1kz build - new intake manifold setup
This isnt my first rodeo mate. I've thought long and hard on how it needs to be done. The manifoldS ID is pretty much 50mm so extending that the short distance to the intercooler makes perfect sence. As for bell mouth they are designed to promote larger air flow. Hence why they are used on intake ...

Re: Modified 1kz build - new intake manifold setup
No ways mate cylibder 1,2 get a much much more direct flow then before cylinder 3,4 will be about the same. These is not enough room to enlarge it and diesel Manifold design is not the same as on a petrol engine. Diesels are limited by fuel input where as on petrols they are limited by air input ...

Re: Modified 1kz build - new intake manifold setup
From my readings on ARE.com.au diesels don't need a large plenum. In fact the increase wouldn't be worth the effort.

Re: Modified 1kz build - kzn130 parts
I have yes. They basically said it wasn't worth the trouble but if you can do yourself go nuts. but with my intercooler behind my this seemed the most logical way to do it. Front facing plenum style but back wards.

Re: Modified 1kz build - kzn130 parts
Well as usual I can't leave anything along. I pulled my rear engine panel off to check up on how the dump pipe is holding up being as I've done about 2000k with it so far. No signs of any stress on welds etc. it did spit the gasket out so I've welded on a vband flange for simplicity. http://i31 ...

Re: Modified 1kz build
Mate if mine got me to make a few bits for his kzn130 surf. Bear in mind I have some finishing to do on both items tomorrow. Custom replacenent dump pipe and a bit of a mod to the intake manifold to try get better flow to cylinder 1 & 2. With the dump pipe it may look bigger But It is but it barely ...

Yeah I've starred to look at water/meth injection that and doing some mods to the intake manifold to get better flow to cylinder 1 & 2. As ive seen on are.com.au. when some spare cash come along I'm also going to make a custom equal(ish) length exhuast manifold

Re: surf 1kz-te 1st modifications
First mods. New air and fuel filter. Block off egr system a must and not as complicated as they are making it out to be. Performance dump pipe (pm me) and egt after that mods become more involved.

My van has never been very economical to use but wow since all these mods I've just done a fuel economy test. Re: KZN185 Surf 3 inch dump pipe
There is always room to fit parts. The Hiace one just squeezes into the space available and is more complex then it needed to be as I wanted it to be a direct bolt in item. Toyotas design has very little to do with available space but cost effectiveness. Order dump pipes and ill produce bolt in ...

Re: Modified 1kz build
Most of those flow calculations go flying out the window when you strap a turbo onto a motor as its no longer the motor pumping air through it but the turbo forcing it down its throat and out it's bum. I can't really help with any formulas or references but if you want I'd suggest talking to a guy ...

Re: KZN185 Surf 3 inch dump pipe
I use stainless over steel as I can source them cheaper then the mild steel bends. I'm using very high grade thick wall stainless bends with wall thickness of 2.77mm and up depending on pipe size. This is not cheap Chinese made stainless. These bends are used wildly around NZ to build very high ...

Hi guys. The van is still going strong just. I can't believe the difference in performance and fuel economy since the head replacement. We just had round 3 of d1nz at bay park in Tauranga. I've looked through my profile edit but can't see where to put my location. I am in Auckland tho. As for the water to air i/cs position.
