Re: Snatching with bow shackles

Shit i remember reading that thread! That was a while ago. some interesting stuff in there. So that thread say 5-10 ton to open or snap a tow hook and the video shows over 30ton to break the bow shackle. I think the difference is the rating on the shackle is for lifting which has a higher safety fac...

I haven't watched the whole second one yet and can't find a video of seeing when a tow hook will open up. Interesting though

Re: Snatching with bow shackles

I have never heard of a shackle letting go, just what it is attached to. They have a huge safety factor. I would happily use one attached to a good anchor point. I would not use one to join two ropes for snatching (would do for winching with a second winch blanket at the shackle). I have recently go...

i had this when i put the boost compensator on my truck. I the throttle cable bracket was out a few splines and would only run at "full throttle" which was in fact idle. Take it off and move it so that what you are now getting as full throttle is idle

Re: Prado - Southland Vehicle Project

We run duratrac on all our utes at work as an aggressive MT. get about 70,000km out of them and they are great on the road. Heaps more road (and off road of course) grip than the standard road tyres that come on the utes when new.

Love them

What has been done to the fuel pump?

Sounds like a linkage is gone in there? Very odd that is kept running but wouldn't start. Was it running smooth ?

Re: What's involved in drilling perches to move front diff?

If you are still to go for a cert you will probably want to do RUF and cross over now as you will certainly want to do it at some stage and no point getting a cert more than once. It is better but you don't HAVE to do it. Moving the axle forward and trimming the guards/body should get the 35's fitti...

Re: What's involved in drilling perches to move front diff?

I'm all for the 35s if you want them. And as much as I like rears up front and crossover you can make 35s fit just fine without it if you move the axle and have a body lift or even better trim the guards and smash the shit out of the wheel arch. If you need a Cert anyway then go rears up front. If y...

Re: What's involved in drilling perches to move front diff?

Why do you want to go higher? Will tha 6 inch lift your suspension will probably already be stiff as buggery and resetting and adding for an extra leaf will just make it firmer.

I assume you want to move the axle forward to stop the 35s from rubbing?

How to change td42 fuel cut solenoid?

My mates safari needs the fuel cut solenoid changed. It cut out and I found it had blown the fuse to the fuel cut. It was a 5amp fuse rather than the 10 it was meant to have (fuses were all recently changed as a precaution after drowning it so hadn't been a 5 for long) I changed the fuse and got pow...
