Solved my sad safari issue. bought a 2006 Patrol instead 4.8 litres of petrol guzzling power! tried it for the first time yesterday towing the boat, did it well, not overly fast, but keeping up with traffic well.

Anyone want to buy a safari? All the important stuff has been done!

have you got a heavy trade licence for 5 tonne plus all up Yeah I have my HT, but think the whole thing would still be under 6 t anyway. Inlet manifold was clean, did all the filters when I got it, along with front and rear rotors,heavy duty pads, caliper kits, front caliper pistons, drive belts ...

To keep you updated (I started this thread) on what progress I've had, reset the valve clearances which were a bit wide, gave the pump a bit more fuel and set the TPs up properly. will hook up the boat on wednesday if weather plays ball and see what difference it has made

Did you machine or replace the discs? If not, the pads will be flexing when you push on the pedal, giving you that soft feel. Can be dangerous as pads can get damaged if the flex is too much.
