Hi,
Wondering if anyone has some EGR blanking plates or know where to get?
I could make some up, but just checking if there is anywhere that might do them ?
Cheers

Re: Land cruiser 80 series- AWD or 4WD?
I've just seen this: http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/tech/toyota-land-cruiser-cdl-switch-install-review-53202.html "The Land Cruiser runs with an open center differential in high range (4HI). When low range (4LO) is engaged, the center differential locks, giving a true 50/50 power split to f...

Re: Land cruiser 80 series- AWD or 4WD?
I've been researching this for two days now and I still don't have a definitive answer. 1) Is the VC only on the t-case's rear output ? 2) Does the center diff AND the VC lock when in low (or you've installed a CDL switch) or does the VC not lock up ? If so, it's AWD but with a LSD effect on the rea...

Land cruiser 80 series- AWD or 4WD?
But if a noob question but I couldn’t easily find this out. I’m looking at a buying another land cruiser, this time a 80 series. It’s 1997 with the 1hdft No center diff lock. So does that means it’s AWD? What does the transfer box do In regards to the power front/back ratios or is it fully open? Tha...

Re: 92 Terrano TD27t noise (can't figure it out)
Update. Turned out the transmission filter was blocked and the trans lost pressure.
New filter, new fluid. Noise gone. Hopefully no long term damage!

Re: 92 Terrano TD27t noise (can't figure it out)
Whining noise still there. Might be coming from gearbox area. What tests can we do to isolate if it's something in the gearbox ? (I'm suspecting maybe a input shaft bearing?) Also could it be a spun mains bearing in the motor ? (what do they sound like when they're toast?) Torque convertor ? (Do the...

92 Terrano TD27t noise (can't figure it out)
Hi guys, thought I'd ask as there's loads of people with TD27's here... Recently a mate's Terrano has started a whining noise that changes with RPM - it's at it worse @ 2.5 - 3.5k RPM. It's auto. It's noticeable a lot more when it's cold. It's louder when you're accelerating under load in gear (so r...

Re: Holley or Q'jet?
Here's what I usually do (if I can't be bothered) - If the QJet doesn't run nicely then slap a new or good Holley (600 vac sec) on it and it will just go... most likely will guzzle gas... but hey it's a V8 right ?

Re: Holley or Q'jet?
A new Holley out of the box will work... It might need minor tweaking, but generally it will be fine for a 350. Go Holley if you can't be bothered with a decent carb    On the other hand QJet's are a great carb. They are "on demand" and will draw as much fuel as they need...

32"s fit, 33"s rub with a normal offset. Lots of cutting and lifting to fit 33"s with -44 offset

Re: outboard hard to start
Proper procedure; squeeze the primer bulb first untill firm. Then push the key switch in for choke and rotate to the start position simultaneously. It will crank right up. Of course this is the cold crank procedure only. Once it's warm you don't touch choke, just turn the key, let it idle for min th...

Re: outboard hard to start
my old outboard did the same. Turns out it was the way I was starting it. When it's warm, how do you start it? If it starts fine when warm but dies under a load will it also die you don't turn off and go slow or idle then give it the boot again? If so sounds fuel related, could even just need an idl...

Re: locked front diff
So wait... re-read his first question.
Let's say he welds the front diff... and is in 2wd and the hubs are open (free) then each wheel can move freely correct ?
Engage 4wd + lock hubs, then he'll have a locked diff.
Correct ?

Re: 1kz te What mods can I do?
I run my cooler in series after the trans and before the in radiator cooler. This is done for two reasons 1. so if the trans gets hot most of the heat is dropped before the radiator 2. if the oil out of the cooler is cold the water temp will help keep it warmer Maurice Hmm I did the same thing and ...

Re: Thinking of towing with a 1KZTE?....Think again…
I change my driving style to the EGT's. I've towed my 1 ton jetboat over the same places in my 1993 prado 1kz-te with 300,000k's on the original head. Obviously I've kept the cooling system tip top, but like Fitzy says you have to drive to the EGT's. Sometimes I'm going voer a hill @ 30km/h... must ...

I love this thread. It's probably the most truthful thread on overheating 1kz's out there!
Summary: 1KZTE's regularly crack heads
Why: Various reasons!
Fix: All the usual preventative stuff
Conclusion: Toyota almost made an awesome engine!

Agree, low range is exactly that in these boxes and yes the change from 1st to 2nd can sometime be a bit harsh, but it's not that bad! I hardly use low range but when you do it's a good experience especially going down steep inclines.

you can also add octane booster if your still worried. Octane booster is a total myth, there have been many test conducted. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jbcCr2ll3c Also, 91 vs 95 is not going to make much of a difference. Don't worry about it unless you have an old V8 pushrod engin...

Modified the viscous fan last night. Wow! what a difference.
It's all in the valve adjustment. It's on 80% of the time now. Bit loud, but I don't really care!
Might re-adjust it after summer again so it's only on when it's HOT!
