Re: will i notice a rear difflocker in surf when driving on
The thing i can relate the lockrites to is a lsd, except tighter. other option could be gettin an lsd if ya dont want the noise? I dunno about the toyota LSD's but the clutch pack Mitsi ones can be quite clunky in a tight turn. Mine makes cracking noises as the clutch slips and re-bites. I dont ...

Re: L300 4wd Off-road expedition camper project
More this ish? Have seen a rare few of these about. I wanted something like this a fair few years back, when the family was much smaller, for camping outings. Snorkels lookin good man. Look better trimmed down a touch like you mentioned. Next? Yeah I've seen them on a few sites for sale but have ...

Did a bit more to the snorkel but stil not finished. had one of those shit weekends where everything seems to get in the way and nothing gets achieved. No going back now.... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/doo0T/89EC9F37-4DB6-4C2E-AFB1-638A336679C4-3455-000005C2C9066893_zps44ec3716.jpg Tried ...

Re: Ahh F#$k Moment. Tie Rod (Pitman Arm End)
You could also cut the side of the nut off with a hacksaw or your grinder and hit the rest of it off with a hammer and cold chisel.
That would at least leave you a stub to hit back through if it's jammed.

Re: Ahh F#$k Moment. Tie Rod (Pitman Arm End)
Well in that case put a cutting disc on your grinder and chop off the stub/nut. You may need to use a punch to get the stub out after you've ground it off unless there's still a bit sticking up you can whack with a hammer. Chuck your old one back on if you need to get the truck out of the shed ...

Re: Ahh F#$k Moment. Tie Rod (Pitman Arm End)
Are you sure it's spinning on the thread and not just spinning the whole stub of the balljoint around in the taper? If it turns out that it is spinning the stub around you can make it grab tight in the taper by levering down onto the top of the ball joint with a big arse screwdriver or jack handle ...

Re: L300 4wd Off-road expedition camper project
Did a bit more on my ghetto snorkel. Still got a bit to do before it can get fitted. It's made of rectangular downpipe. I had to plastic weld up a junction at the end as Marley don't make a rectangle into round right angle. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/doo0T/9A004153-A890-4F6E-B8FB ...

Made a ghetto style snorkel for the van Sat morning, didn't get it fitted. Then drove out to Port Waikato. Drove around the peninsula and stayed the night on the beach. Then Sunday/Monday drove all the way down to Awakino via raglan/kawhia etc got back tonight. Since when has Ocean Beach at Kaphia ...

L300 4wd Off-road expedition camper project
Hey, Just recently bought a 94 L300 Exceed 4x4 and have begun building an expedition camper. Will be used for light 4x4 work, basically just getting us to out of the way places. So far I've built the roof racks, fitted a safari tent & built a ladder to access the forward rack where I'll put a tray ...

Re: Welding front diff - with auto hubs
Welded front is bad mmmkay.. Do you really need a front locker? Is it worth the effort and expense versus replacing the rear lsd with a good locker. Or is there a mitsi Lsd centre from another vehicle thatll bolt into your front diff? You may find that with a locker/ welded centre in the rear you ...

Re: Welding front diff - with auto hubs
What about a LOKKA Aussie locker? You can order them online for $400US. Have been in touch with RJ at LOKKA and though they currently dont offer a 7.25" crownwheel solution for the front of an L300 however it's on their production schedule for 2013. Fingers crossed Currently I'd have to put a 8 ...

Re: Welding front diff - with auto hubs
Hmmn yeah thats probably very sound advice. I've had a bit of a search about but cant find anyone that's done it but in theory if you can put an 8" pajero diff housing in the front of an L300 with minimal mods, then would it not also then be possible to put in an LSD spool from an 8" L300 rear into ...

Welding front diff - with auto hubs
Ok, as title states I'm interested in hearing peoples thoughts on welding up a front diff for my mitsi. It's an L300 4x4 and has a tight rear LSD however I've already noticed in the short amount of offroading I've done in it that it could do with a front diff lock. Front diffs in the L300 are ...

Bought an '86 L300 motorhome in England and drove it 12000kms around Europe over 5 months on a single oil change with not a single issue, started first time every time even at nearly 10,000ft up in the alps, never used oil, never blew smoke. It did get hot if you left your foot up it going up a long ...

Just picked my one up yesterday. 1989 L300 Delica 4x4 2l petrol. Not as flash as yours tho. This one needs a tidy up, scored it for 3k-cheep as when you think about what you can do with them. New member, Auckland, L300 4x4
Hi Guys, I'm a new member, just bought a 4x4 van and looking to get into a bit of expedition wild camping around NZ. Just recently got back from Europe after touring about for 5 months approx in an L300. Loved it so decided to get another. Truck is pretty low k's 1994 2.5 Turbo Diesel in pretty good ...
