ok thanks, that makes things clear. guess ill leave the boost comp alone. and yea i might just have to put up with a little less power for now

i think i might still need to give the boost comp a fiddle. at the moment it blows a little black smoke if i floor it from idle with no boost (which is probly perfect) but the top end wants more fuel.
but yea maybe a larger plunger is on the horizon then

ideally i want to turn that up a tad more to get an ideal air/fuel ratio. ive had it idling good already by backing that screw off, but it was running too lean.

just be carefull that you actually have room for it. ie filter doesn't run into steering or chassis. otherwise you will need to do a remote filter setup. the other way is to change to the hiace version which has the filter vertical. also the z9 version is easier to get adapters for. clocking the turbo, means turning the compressor housing. but either way that turbo idea is gone. the rebuilder had a look and found cracks in the exhuast housing and bent fins on the turbine wheel. so that was a waste of time... he reckons that the turbine side of those turbos are a little small ...

its been sitting too long and wont turn, well not easily anyway. so needs a re-con either way. they reconditioner is going to take it apart and get back to me anyway. the machining is getting done to shape it to a suitable larger garret wheel so will be as perfect fit as ever hopefully it is ...

thanks! manifold turbo flange is square 52x56mm so 2" around the radiator hopefully shouldnt restrict too much. this manifold doesnt have the butterfly like the surf one does. win! hopefully turbos not a chinese one :-s i did find it weird that it just says "toyota B" rather that "toyota CT20"...

intercooler: i put the radiator back in and had a measure. basically theres only 2" of space on the intake side and maybe 2 an 1/2" on the turbo side. that would lead to into around a max front mount size of 600x200 might be a tad restricting, but i think i could just reduce the pipe size on the ...

Heres a pic of the manifold bolted up to my old 3L block. only a couple of bolts holding it on the photo, but all the bolts line up *(as long as you move one of the centre studs.)
