Re: 1980 Toyota Hilux, light replacement, help

The best value 7" round lights I had on my old Suzuki were some 70/55W sealed beam ones. Good light & lasted for ages. Wagner 7012 I think, cheap from Repco - was a while back so dunno if they still have them. Semi sealed units with high watt bulbs give great light but blow heaps, especially when ...

Re: 1980 Toyota Hilux, light replacement, help

You don't need an adapter for the trucklite led units, they fit in the standard mount. Also the dip beam is much much better, it is pretty antisocial to be using your light bar in traffic ;) They aren't cheap though, $600ish from TWL. Haha I wouldn't use the lightbar on the road it'll do some ...

Not to worried about light as I have a 42" light bar. Not wanting a fully sealed unit either.

Re: 1980 Toyota Hilux, light replacement, help

Thanks all. Couldn't find any on trademe probably the way I searched it, dunno. I'm not too keen on the LED lights as you need to get an adapter for them and I want to keep the older style. I'll have a look around SuperCheap, Repco to see if they have any. I do like the old housing with bulb and ...

1980 Toyota Hilux, light replacement, help

Hey guys, so my Hilux lamps are buggered and I can not take out the bulb as it's a one sealed unit, this is unfortunate as I need them for W.O.F obviously. So, I'm looking for a replacement they're a 7" in size with a 3 prong connection. If someone could guide me to somewhere to get replacement's (I ...

Re: Hilux Diff

All i do is fill the diff untill oil comes out the filler hole, just make sure your trucks on level ground first. You can buy proper LSD oil. Count the crown and pinion teeth on your original diffs and post them, 4.2 sounds real foreign. Yes it is 4.1 sorry. Hi, Regarding locker options have a look ...

Hilux Diff

Hi there got a few questions here so I can get a few things done.. I got x2 4.88 diffs I want to put into the Hilux, one open the other LSD. What I want to know is how much oil I should need for each (I have been told the LSD needs more). Vehicle is '87 Hilux. Also what is the resale value of ...

Re: Falcon Rears

It stops your truck steering left (pretty sure it's left) under braking. Because the steering is push pull rather than side to side as the diff moves under braking it changes steering geometry. If you take it off your truck will no longer be warrantable and will be dangerous. In short don't do it ...

I can deal with that for better flex. What does a torque rod do anyway? What is the risk of not having one?

That is correct.

Re: Falcon Rears

my profile pic. is Rears up front, 4 leaf but old factory rears not new or HD. That's pretty much the same flex I want on mine. Just enough and not too much. You have to remove the leaf pack to remove a leaf its the easiest way only need a jack n some basic tools to do it. Sweet. Gona have to get ...

Re: Falcon Rears

good articulation but its a bit more to it than rip the old springs out and bolt the new ones in on the driveway on a Saturday morning if your new heavy duty springs are too stiff which is what you'd expect from a new set of heavy duty springs you could try playing around pulling a few leaves out ...

Falcon Rears

Hey guys. What's the go with falcon rears and rears up front? Pros and cons? Seems to have good flex. I am running 2" body lift, 3" suspension on new heavy duty springs. They are too stiff and my flex sucks. What do you rekon?

Loving the 81 with the circular headlights. My favorite shape of the Hilux. I own the 87 more boxy shape which is also sweet and the 2.4 diesel. Good to see someone restoring something. Good on ya.
