Hay, i've got a lj71 chassis and part cab that could do with a new home. Has has been modded with a 2jz but previous owner toasted gearbox and never got it fixed. was a fantastic truck when going... So chassis is not quite complete, still has 2jz in it but no gearbox (auto) or transfer. It is also ...

Re: LVV Certification for suspension and body lifts
You might all want to check the following link for the LTNZ correction to "WoF news September 2007 Issue 11"
http://www.nzfwda.org.nz/news/21
This doesn't clear the way for wholesale mod but does at least put some level of common sense in the whole issue

Re: fj40 transfer case question
If its the split box, you can pull off the pto cover plate (or pto if fitted) get a torch and look in. the shifter will most likely be sitting resting out the output shaft. a long screw driver or bar should reach it and you can just push it back up. This has fixed mine in the past and one other i ...

Re: tyre certification
Just to be a bit of a devils advocate here, but the WOF cade says GREATER THAN 5%, It does not mention SMALLER THAN. Therefore what is wrong with a smaller tyre, The basis of certification is basically that you can make anything worse tha OEM. If you run smaller tyres your braking would be better ...

I had my vehicle certed recently with 285/75-16 and requested that the tyre but put on. Was told that they could not put tyre on and only rim would be certed. i argued the issue with tyre size and the 5% thresehold for warrants and whilst the certifier agreed he said it was the issuing office in ...

Re: Very Strange Landcruiser not turning off and hard clutch
The vacuum solinoid that activates the intake butterfly is located at the rear of the engine on passengers side about half way down the block. on a 13bt this feeds a diaphram actuator located on the air pipe accross the engine from air cleaner to intake manifold. Have a play with the butter fly to ...

Re: Very Strange Landcruiser not turning off and hard clutch
This wont be related to turbo boost pressure. There is a vacuum pump on the rear of the alternator, there is rubber hoses (fairly small dia from memory) that go to a small vacuum tank (about 100mm dia and 100m long) on the driver side guard. From there acuum lines go accross the fire wall to the ...

Re: Very Strange Landcruiser not turning off and hard clutch
You probably have a vacuum leak. The clutch has a booster which operates off the vacuum and when you shut the enigine off the key opens a solinoid that operates a butterfly valve on the inlet cutting off the air. I would trace all you vacuum lines and look for any loose hoses or kinks. Do you also ...

Re: 70 series power steering into a 40
I have just recently done this, Though i took the whole axle and box and grafted it all together. You will need to modify the steering shaft and add a bearing to support it at the fire wall. The back web of the shock needs some grinding to get the steering shaft past and the battery box will most ...
