Re: Nissan Calmini upper A arms for sale
hi Johnny. the guy i bought them from had done a SAS, not me... so I can't help at all sorry. I'm not really wheeling my Mistral hard enough to bother installing the upper arms-have never bent a tie rod end YET. I tend to avoid the deep mud bogs and ruts, as 31" tyres are a limiting factor.

Re: Hilux LN65 4 speed swap to 5 speed
update. Locking the front hubs and engaging 4WD brought a "clunk clunk clunk" noise, so clearly either the transfer case or the front driveshaft was to blame. The UJs seemed good , but it turns out joint in the "Kim Kardashian joint" had slop in. So the LN106 front driveshaft was...

Re: Hilux LN65 4 speed swap to 5 speed
well i have the box swapped for a 5 speed. The result is BRILLIANT. Hilux now cruises easily at 100km/h, even 110kmh is not screaming. The box was a G52 from a LN106(complete with front driveshaft and transfer case.). Had to swap the sensors over from the LN65 box , and used the gear levers from the...

Re: White smoke on start up, rough idle, losing water....
yes it does unfortunately :( or a cracked head.Or a warped head, i guess. Generally the TD27 (essentially the same motor) and the QD32 are really tough motors and can often withstand an overheat, so it is disappointing that this has happened. When was the water pump last replaced? pull the thermosta...

in the current market, i reckon $3000 will only buy you a surf with a blown head or similar. Some sellers have unrealistic expectations.

vitara v Jimny
My brother is looking for a light farm vehicle to update/replace his heavier older Nissan Mistral. He is looking at vitaras and jimnys, circa 2008 or thereabouts. Does anyone have suggestions as to which is a better bet long term? Use is mainly around farm, towing feed troughs, following the cows up...

Re: Turbo certification
Remember Exhaust gas temps are relative to where the sensor is mounted (ie before or after the turbo), so make sure you compare apples with apples. So 650-700 degrees pre turbo is not always the end of the world. Also depends how long you hold your foot down too...

Re: Front spring leaf curve ?
So to update this thread, I bought a NEW pair of front leaf springs (standard height) and once installed (with new bushes) the front end lifted 50mm, but the mechanic said that this will settle over the next couple of weeks or so, so maybe drop 15-20mm. I intended to let this "settling" oc...

Re: Terrano d21 auto issue question.
often a box will slip or be slow to shift when it is wearing out, whereas this seems to have suddenly not selected third.so hopefully it is a faulty solenoid. However, auto trans dudes see a lot of cars, and usually are pretty good on their diagnosis, so for me it is a 50/50 call. Given the age and ...

Thanks for that, Ant. here's the reply from Autosprings.. We may be able to reset the springs and add an extra leaf it all depends on the condition of the springs (won't know that until we pull them apart) For reset with 1 extra leaf in each approx. $ 280 for the pair + G.S.T etc (assumes springs ar...

Re: A442f trans temp
also be aware that virtually no one in NZ can provide you with a trans temp gauge in degrees C, they all seem to be in Farenheit (unless you have one imported). So the quick/simple solution is to use a oil temp gauge, and put a little "TRANS" sticker on it. But that bit of info doesn't app...

two places are the best options in my experience. I've run a lot of high stall convertors in drag toyota autos, so like to keep my finger on the pulse. Naturally my 4wd has a trans temp gauge also. The quickest is to adapt the sensor into a brass tee that you install in the line that goes TO the tra...

Hilux LN65 4 speed swap to 5 speed
Hi folk. Does any one have experience in terms of knowing whether a G52 box fits straight in to replace a 4 speed box?(G40 I believe?)
Is a G52 from a LN106 the same as a G52 from the LN65?
If anyone can suggest the right people to talk to, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Buying a Hilux Surf Diesel IC model
there is heaps of discussion and suggestions (on this forum)on adding longevity to the 1KZ motor, so search away. A 3 inch dump pipe and exhaust does allow the EGTs to run lower. Bypassing the radiator trans cooler is often a good move, provided you hook up an aftermarket one to keep the trans cool....

can you describe exactly where the EGT probe is located?
ie if it is in the collection point of the exhaust manifold (as opposed to the exhaust down pipe ) then 600 is not that high. In my opinion.

very rare to see a blue one for sale from what I've seen. And people still want 30-35K for them too.
Alternatives are, a 2003 Surf diesel for $21K on trademe currently, or you can buy a real nice prado for $25K. But not in the Blue colour you like!

Has anyone here upgraded their LN65 rotors (non vented) and calipers to the vented LN106 rotors and calipers? I'm told it only requires minor massaging to make fit. Is there a noticeable improvement in braking? And is it mandatory to also install the LN106 brake master cylinder at the same time , to...

Re: kzn130 trans flush
You need to identify the return line from the trans cooler back to the trans, then detach it, hook a longer hose to it that allows you to bring it out from under the car, and up higher then the trans. Then push a funnel into the hose, and fill away. Not a fast job, but WAY better than trying to fill...
