Re: learn me Disco style's
Sure a little more acceleration on-road, I was thinking more NVH, comfort + safety (which has finally caught up with the Defender). It's impossible to make any further "adjustments / Mods." to the chassis & body to comply to the western world's pedestrian safety. Probably a lot to do with the ...

Re: learn me Disco style's
Great debating this. If we say the following:- Standard Defender = 8/10 for off Road & 5/10 on-Road & therefore Standard Disco = 5/10 for off Road & 8/10 on-Road Using the best mods then...... Modified Defender - 10/10 for off Road & 6/10 on-Road Modified Disco -10/10 for off Road & 8/10 on-Road You ...

Re: learn me Disco style's
They are quite top heavy with the steel roof though. Quite a tall/narrow design.[/quote] Sure, a little top heavy, but not when you compare with a defender & an empty roofrack - let alone gear up there as well. Hardly a handicap, even with anti roll bars disconnected. Narrow - don't think so - wider ...

Re: learn me Disco style's
The 300tdi Disco is a total "no-brainer" in my view. They just stare @ you in the face on Trademe against anything else. 1. Cheap as chips 2. Plenty of spares out there 3. The body is ideally sized, wheel base etc. Always amazes me why so many of them nowadays end up as donas for pretend Defenders ...

Re: Motor conversions - Rangie
Firstly, changing from diesel to a petrol is quite involved & not recommended on a cost/ effort basis. Options:- 1. If the Rangie is a Classic & it was mine I'd replace it with another 200 or 300tdi Diesel (what ever was in it originally). 2. If it's a P38 I'd replace it also (probably the BMW motor ...

Re: What do you guys think? Looking for a Diesel Disco
Hell yes!!!!! Looks like a mint one, and the 200Tdi is a good motor. They don't tend to suffer cylinder head issues like other motors with alloy heads That motor should be good for another 200,000 if looked after. Possible items that might need attention in the next 100,000ks might be the big end ...

Re: Land Rover design changes
The big problem is they only sell 25,000 Defenders a year How many UTV (side by sides) are sold every year to users that already have a on-road vehicle? If LR could produce a vehicle that you could drive safely and legally to town to buy milk AND drive across 500 acres of farmland to herd cows then ...

Re: 1998 Discovery TDi
Yep I agree with all the above. I have run Tdi Disco out past 300,000Ks and it still ran mint. If it still has EGR remove it. Heaps and heaps of aftermarket bits available too. Best of all, when you do have an issue (you will, nothing is perfect) it is 100% guaranteed that you won't be the first ...

Re: Land Rover design changes
My fave has to be classic Rangerover. 2 door, V8 on carbs, 4 speed box. Just a brilliant bit of design and when new it was years ahead of the competition. Future - I would love to see LR introduce a small, cheap, easy to fix, basic 4x4. Make a non-emmisions crap basic as hell version to sell in ...

Re: 1998 Discovery TDi

Re: Discovery diesel....
Manuals might be cheaper but they go way better than the autos. I had a manual one and it went great. towed the jet boat really well too. For what it was worth I should I have kept it. No way!! I've driven Autos & Manuals & Autos are quicker. 'Cause Land Rover used the "fly-by-wire" Fuel Pump & has ...
