Hi guys.
I'm wanting to get a new exhaust fitted to my LJ78, hoping to get abit more out of it and keep the temp down too. I have been told 2.5" is the way to go. I'm out west Auckland. Where's the best place to get it done? What sort of $ am I looking at?
Thanks Slacker

Re: Looking at a 1991 Prado 2.4l
I've been told there is a lot of blowby? And its breathing hard, out of dipstick. Rings are gone so time for replacement. Love the V8 idea, just not affordable. What's my next best option? Been offered the truck for $3500, guess this is why
. Would fitting anything other than the 2lte require a cert?

Re: Looking at a 1991 Prado 2.4l
So I finally have had the chance to take a look at the Prado. Bit rough on start up but once warm goes ok. Has a big electric fan with switch in cab. Seems to be a oil leak around the throttle body? Is this a major? Also has static belts in the back, are these able to be changed to retractable type ...

Re: Looking at a 1991 Prado 2.4l
Thanks for all the advice . I've always liked the look of these wagons and wanted one. Now not so sure? . Will they handle a family and towing a small trailer with bikes? Hope to check it out this weekend and test drive. It couldn't be much slower and heavier than my caR50 Terrano 2.7 diesel could ...

Re: Looking at a 1991 Prado 2.4l
Sorry Wopass, will change that.
Thanks Dieselboy. Hope to view it soon. Overall are they a good vehicle? Main use will be commuting to work and carting family around on weekends. And hopefully a spot of fishing too

Turbo timer trouble
Having trouble with turbo timer in my r50 Terrano. Up until a few days ago was fine. Now when I turn off the key it runs for 2 or 3 seconds and shuts off while timer is still counting down. Thanks in advance

Re: R50 Starting trouble
So starting trouble fixed. Had a friend of a friend take a look at it. He wasn't convinced it was the starter either. Turns out it was the ignition barrel that was worn. After replacing it everything is good.
Just means have another key to add to key ring.

What brands do you recommend Crash? Being an old truck don't want to spend to much. Can I purchase from BNT Repco etc?

Yeah I'm thinking its the strut assembly too. Is it ok to replace one or best to replace them as a pair?

Did you find out what the knocking was? I have a similar issue front left with my truck. Also has a shuddering on the open road.

Just been quoted $425+ for Hitachi starter
. Any cheaper ones that would do the trick? Truck has done 290 so not keen to spend that much.

Re: R50 Starting trouble
Checked the inhibitor switch for adjustment, looks ok. Like you said Dan, I can hear a click when turning the key to start. When I turn it off and back to start it starts with no trouble. Thinking that maybe its just a case of replacing it and hope for the best.

R50 Starting trouble
Hi. I'm having trouble starting my truck, cold or warm. When turning the key to start nothing happens, turn off then back to start again, starts fine. Had sparky check starter, said it was a bit grumbly but ok, had low voltage so put in a relay, no difference. Was told to try starting in Neutral ...

Third row seat for R50 Terrano
I have been looking for a 7 seater and was recently given a dickie? seat that came out of a Camry station wagon. Is it possible that this could be fitted in the boot my Terrano? Can anybody recommend who to talk to about fitting it? Is it a job that a panel beater could do?

Petrol 4x4 for part time use?
Is owning a petrol 4x4 for occasional use the right way to go? It would be for weekend family fishing trips etc. not daily commuting. I am located in Helensville so beach isn't that far. What are my best options for a 7 seater truck? I have seen the Pajero, Patrol, Bighorn and Mazda Marvie. Thanks ...

Advice on 7 seater 4wd
I currently own a 95 Nissan Terrano diesel, its my daily driver. I bought it because of its service history etc. Now with the family getting bigger I need more seats. Budget is around $5000. I like the look of the Mitsubishi Pajero. Would these be a good option for room and open road commuting?

Hi I have just bought a 95 (r50) diesel Terrano. Its had no mods. Im wanting to use it for the occasional fishing trip with the family. Any suggestions on what it/I need before heading out? I'm out west Auckland.
