If you want to come down to Tauranga for a thrash let me know. BOP land is a lot of fun at moment. Spent the Monday there doing skids in the 40 Yes definitely keen! Itching to get out in it again. One of the lower links broke a few weeks ago and snapped the bottom of a shock and damaged the other ...

Have also seen a few projects from people on here in the past come out of the woodwork in one form or another (often with jungle gyms welded to the ...

Hey all, Thought I might throw up an update on this rig. A few months ago I was chatting to Jafa and the subject came up that he wanted to part with the Jalopy as living on a boat isn't great for workshop space. Couldn't resist having a nosy and couldn't say no to the opportunity  20210212 ...

Re: Hdj81 vx diff housings
Yes the locking housing has an extra cut out in it to fit the locking mechanism and 2 studs in a different spot from memory. Can mod non-locking housing to fit locker easy enough. Cant remember if there is a gap if a non-locking head is put back in but could fill with welder and grind back worst case

Hi, Bit hard to tell from the video but sounds like it it coming from the top rather than the bottom. Maybe timing chain tensioner gone? Either way I wouldn't send it to the wrecker. Worth a reasonable amount of money still and those M series engines are dirt cheap (as they come in swifts also ...

Re: which Terrano to buy
Sorry don't know much about terranos (not my cup of tea), but the shuddering you described is the torque converter lockup. There is a product called lubeguard shudder fix which instantly solves the problem (around $20 or $30 from memory). I was recommended it as one of my old safaris had that issue ...

Re: Roof top tents
I have one that was imported by MCC (although they stopped bringing them in). One thing that I have found out is most of the tents in NZ are all supplied by the Chinese, and usually all from one company (Longroad campers is one of them). The difference is how the NZ supplier has specced the tent ...

Hey Steve, good to see you're still rocking the landy lifestyle and not gone back to dirty hiluxes and isuzu's  From what I can tell the main harness is different so going manual to auto is a bit more difficult than going the other way. You can, however that will only give the temperature of cyl no 1 and not the entire system. I would recommend installing it just before the turbo inlet for the most accurate reading

Public GPS track databases
What are peoples opinions on GPS databases for 4wd tracks in NZ? e.g. https://www.4x4explorer.co.nz/ Is it a good resource or do you think it will end up as a resource for all the 4wd muppets to rip up all the tracks? Im not trying to throw water on your fire, but dont waste your time with a td5. It has been done but they are rather problematic engines which would need a lot of work to fit for rather mediocre results. If you're going to spend the time/money swapping go for a BMW m57 diesel engine. Heaps of power ...

Well its had a bit of a miss on startup for the last few weeks that went away after a couple of minutes of driving. Assumed it was a leaky valve stem or injector or something.
