Re: V8 Land Rover project
MS Droid is pretty handy, since pretty much nothing on my dashboard works now after changing to an LT230 I mounted a cheap phone holder to the dash in front of the speedo. The only thing is that gps and bluetooth use a lot of battery so I have a charger that stays in the rangy

Re: Vh41 coils and igniters, removal and fit newer coils
A quick look on the microtech site and it looks like they only have 4 or 6 ignition channels so would have to be wasted spark, I guess it should work, it does with the megasquirt Edit, looks like it will here is the LS1 ignition wiring diagram, obviously the actual wiring will depend on the exact ...

Re: 1994 Pathfinder Build
I run a Megasquirt II on my V8landy. For what I paid for it, I'm happy. Only experience I have had with link was help wire one up, then it went to the dyno, came back and that was it. All done. I think the MSII probably has a few less smarts in comparison but I'm not sure what features you miss out ...

What sort of money is a 24 spline diff and axles likely to go for these days?
Ive already broken a trans (on the road) so the 10 spline bits might not last long

Re: Rust Con
Here's what i used to use when painting rusty marine engine blocks, worked a treat and was one of the cheapest too. m Cheers, Mitre 10 sells this too, it is awesome stuff. Thanks, I am pretty sure this is what my mate recommended but I forgot what it was called. Will give this a try. Anyone used it ...

The cheapest way to get power is probably start with something else... It would be pretty easy to put a couple of turbos on a 3.5 though

Re: Discovery V8 Engine Improvements
Here's what I did a while back, 3.5 to 5L Lit up all fours on the 32"'s but not on the 33's. m Bit extreme and required lots of other bits in the drive train to be uprated. Used a heap of fuel as well! Thats interesting, did the block require machining to give the crank enough clearance? Im trying ...

And you can add a $20 bluetooth module to it and use an android device to tune it, or just use as a dash board

Re: 2001 Pajero SWB with V8 Lexus
My new flywheel is installed and ready to rock, its wider, stronger and heavier than the toyota stock 3sgte one it replaces. Next image is the master cylinder for the clutch installed and ready to do its thing. This week I also ordered a megasquirt V3.57 ecu, whichis a fully stand alone engine ...

Re: V8 Land Rover project
Yea I heard the water thing as well and it just seemed easier to get rid of the distributor. There are a few ways you can do it with the distributor, you might even have the high current driver in the MS itself, all that would take is connecting the outputs to the coil and running the VR sensor ...

Re: V8 Land Rover project
Its a Pick A Part special, the 2 coil packs are Hyundai, 2 sets of 2 post coils on a common core, Im pretty sure they are the same or very similar to Mitsubishi and the later Range Rover ones. The coils are driven by Subaru ignitors, all the cars there seemed to still have them so I figured they ...

Re: V8 Land Rover project
Ive gone the other way, getting the ignition sorted as the only thing I need to do to change back is swapping plug leads over. Running half on the dizzy and half coil packs (well 4:2) also seems to work ok for sorting out vr sensors and various signals and setting the base timing/wheel offset etc ...

Re: V8 Land Rover project
I can get the speedo to the middle of the "P" in MPH. A bit disappointing as I thought with a supposed 150kW it would go right back to the start . Taking it away this weekend (hopefully) so I'll get the missus to drive for a bit and I'll bust out the laptop, connect to the MSII and muck around with ...

I got some from bridon a while ago, it was only in white, had about an 8mm hole and was strong as hell, cheap too. I think it was a Raschel knitted net, it didnt have any knots.

Re: Disco SE electrical issues
I have wrapped some heat deflecting ducting wrap around the ignition module on the dissy to see if that helps. When I got mine it had a dead ignition module, it had already been relocated from the dizzy to an aluminium bracket on the inner wing. I replaced it with a Jaycar ignition kit which seems ...

Let there be life After many dead ends I think I have finally solved the problem. I had a mate come over and we did some more testing on the old girl turns out it wasn't sparking properly. Coil - check Module - check Leads - check Plugs - check Distributor - no go It would spark all 8 first time ...

Re: DiscoAlex's new project - a 1976 LR Series 3 LWB...
I havent played with one of these for a while (I think I had a build thread on here years ago with a different login) but from memory there are a few things to check; First with the twin leading shoe fronts is to make sure the return springs are in the correct holes. (I had lots of issues with this ...
