Re: White smoke on start up, rough idle, losing water....

Water getting into a cylinder. gasket leak or cracked head unfortunately.
Repair or replace the head/gasket as required. Fit new water pump and thermostat, I would also get the radiator checked to make sure it isn't blocked.

Yay, Projects.
Looks like an undertaking and a half.
I like the idea of the Raptor coating, We are considering it as an option later on when we get sick of the west coast pinstripe look on our KZJ Prado.
Good work, keep it up.

Aren't there two pumps plumbed directly into the bottom of the washer reservoir? One pump for the front and one for the rear window?

Just checked against a few tracks I know and yep Grade one is Nana spec, grade 5 Go with nana to tow her mobility scooter out spec. (Don't go alone)
That page was set up by a motorbike touring dude so grades may be more indicative for bikes tan 4wd, still relevant though.

undo the small screws from behind, the centre cover/horn should lift off allowing you to disconnect the horn wire. Then loosen the nut holding the steering wheel onto the steering shaft

Another one? It must be a sickness.
On the bright side you have a flock of them now so once they are all in the same place they should start breeding themselves and you won't need to buy any more.
Keep up the good work and look after yourself.
