Re: 05 Rodeo - motor origins?
My "internet research" I found the least engine problems reported with Rodeo and Triton and most engine problems with Navara and Hilux....but then you will also notice that the Navara and Hilux are by far the most common on the road and lots of owners say they have never had a problem with them ...

Re: 05 Rodeo - motor origins?
Not sure if you can generalise, manufacturers make many tweaks to engines and vehicles, so making a judgement on a motor based on an older model may not relevant. I'd probably search forums for problems with rodeo's. There is always a bad story about any motor, theres driving a motor hard and theres ...

Re: Failed Warrant - rear brakes
If your injector pump is leaking, then the diesel can spray down to the rear drums contaminating the shoes on one side, thats what happened to my toyoace. I tried cleaning and sanding the surface but no improvement, in the end i swapped one of the contaminated shoes to the otherside to make them ...

yep don't take much for a brain fade.....still getting over my jeep rolling over me out on the river earlier this year....... A guy I knew did this, yanking on a bolt under the car, the jack collapsed sideways leaving the car on him, breaking his arm. He screamed out to his girl friend, she came ...

I always feel the 2a is more classic than the 3, its the full metal dash and the wipers where you turn that weird looking switch on the actual wiper motor, no faux modern plastic dash on a 2a! ha ha ha

Re: 2wd vs 4wd
Plenty of 2WD buggy's running on beaches all round the country. Sands all about power to weight, and flotation. As crash said - widest tyres you can fit, road patterns are fine or AT, pick the right gear and keep the jandle down. Hmmm, there are lots of sets of standards wheels and tyres on trademe ...

Re: Thoughts on chipping a 2.5 triton?
I see there are a few chips on trade me, ranging from $695 to $2000 that appear to add in some extra fuel for a boost in torque. The magnum and original tuning box caught my eye but maybe there are others? Very interested to hear of peoples experiences with these buy them off ebay in the UK ...

Re: new to 4x4land looking at terrano
i reckon you will get a pretty good one for that sort of money. The nissan boys here know their stuff and seem to give sensible advice. the 2.7 litre seems to enjoy a good reputation. The key will be to get one that hasn't done much beach work/boat launching, and has a good service history. take ...

Re: rislone oil additive
A good thrashing can do wonders esp. in a vehicle that gets nursed everywhere. A million years ago when I was on the tools a hard run after a service made a huge difference to a lot of vehicles - diesel or petrol. Taxis and Mum cars benefited the most. You would notice a smoother idle and better ...

Re: rislone oil additive
a good dose of brake fluid decokes a diesel quite well. How do you apply it? Rub liberally on its bottom 3 times a day? Jokes what down the air intake, in the fuel or oil? some times when you pull the pistons out of an engine burning oil, the rings are jammed stuck with carbon in the ring gaps ...

Re: Help on getting a diesel Ute
I've heard of people installing a 2nd fuel filter after the main one with the water alarm in it to give you more time to kill the motor if it detects water. Not sure on EGR block mods for those motors but are pretty common for the Nissan diesels. Another recent thread on here is to install a water ...
