Hey Moriarty - you're fast becoming my mate. Absolutely nothing wrong with a Rugger Mine cost $3500 for a '91 intercooled turbo diesel 2.8. Only major thing I've had to do so far on it is replace the battery. No probs offroad so far and haven't done any mods to it yet ! Good power to weight ratio ...

Nope - it's about 50 mins out of Dunedin. Head north from Dunners on SH1 until you get to Palmerston. Turn left at Palmerston onto the old Pig Route (goes to Ranfurly/Alex) - it's about 20 mins along this road from Palmy (just before the turn off to Macraes).

Aha - so that'll be the horrible screeching on my Rugger too ? So next question is - anyone know where the power steering belt is on a Rugger ? Probably a dumb question, but I haven't had the luxury of power steering before Also, does the screeching mean it's doing damage (apart from to my ears) ?

What's the factory default for the tyres on a Rugger ? Mine's got 31" - would this be why the car runs faster than it should downhill in low ratio ?
I know tyre size affects the gearing but it always confuses the hell out of me.

I liked my 91/92 Samurai 413 - went well enough for me off road and that was completely unmodified. Managed to keep up with the big boys on several occasions. Have to admit they are not the best on tarmac for comfort or power but off road there ain't many places they can't go. Wouldn't want to take ...

Have got a 91 Daihatsu Rugger, 2.8 turbo intercooled (unmodified as yet). Impressd with its power - definitely makes a difference having the turbo (test drove a non-turbo and it was like a tank in comparison). Manages steep loose scree/boulder strewn hills ok but haven't had a chance to try it in ...

Hi Mike, The dates on the 'latest' posts scrolling window on the left of the page is always exactly 24 hours ahead of the date on the static display of the forum listing.
