As muddymatt says,, By 06, a lot of the early problems had been sorted, The 1.8 petrols all had head gasket problems,, The V6, drank like a fish !! Early diesels were not good Which leaves the TD4 diesel, The other half has run about half a dozen, the later ones being better, and more refined , best ...

Guess it all depends on which Land Rover model you are thinking about ??

If Defender,, their days are numbered !!

If you want to spend your time modifying it,, go the series

Passed a tourist board for Clerance Vally etc today, on the way down fron Hanmer Springs,, looks good,, think there was mention of a permit needed to drive it with 4x4,s plus they allowed camping, preferably near the trekking huts that are on the route

Am sure between the posters above, they will get you off the beaten track, and away from the tourist routes ,, loads to see and do,, 3 months may just do some of it
