Re: 285/75 r16 BFG's f/s
I'm in Southland too and have an old "brand new" BFG in this size (that I advertised here earlier - mine is now $150). I'm heading to Mt Somers next week so could deliver these for someone if required.

For Sale - BFG Mud Terrain 285/75R16
Hello Guys I have one older but "as new" tyre that has been a spare forever ( so it has some very minor sun cracking but no wear). Its located in Invercargill but I'm happy to send it at buyers expense. The code on the tyre is LT 285/75R16 122/119Q M+S Radial Mud Terrain T/A I'd like $200 but will ...

WTB - Roof Rack Bars and Clamps for GQ Safari
Hello Folks
The title says most of it, they need to suit a low roof model, and be high capacity, at least 100 kgs, or better still have 3 bars in the set. PM me or email foveauxsailor@gmail.com or call 021 516 342.
Thanks

Re: TD42 Not running
For all that, its a bit surprising that it didn't keep running, the last one I struck like that was an Office hack Bluebird, the girls go it back to the office amid copious clouds of smoke (enough to fill the whole street) moaning about its lack of power (and the smoke). It just restarted (must have ...

Hello guys There is a "Safari factory bullbar and electric winch" on TM at the moment that someone who indicates that they are building a comp truck is selling. See m I've asked a couple of questions but I'm not about to lay down 900 or more notes on the quality of the answers so far ( so if its ...

Re: Tyre pressures
Thanks Guys I don't have tubes in them, so it looks like I should run them at about 18 psi for a start and see how I go, maybe drop them a bit further when I have some latitude to experiment. I suppose I should have mentioned that we will be primarily in Canterbury heading up riverbeds and farm ...

O K - Ive got my MT's fitted to my Safari (used Kumho 834's 285/75r16's on 8" blaktrak rims) and they are pretty well mannered on the road. When I start "having adventures" its going to mostly be by myself I.e. only one truck so I don't want any excitement of the losing a bead variety. I've been out ...

Re: 15/16 Feb
Took the Safari into Macetown, then Skippers and home (to Invercargill) via the Nevis. All very low key and only needed 4wd for one very short stretch of mud on the Nevis. Did just over 360 km on 40 litres of diesel so pretty pleased with that - might not be quite as good with 33" muds though!

WTB - 285/75r16 tyre (One)
Hello Guys
I'm after a tyre that can be a useful spare, not too worried about the tread pattern as long as it has 4-6 mm. I'm in Southland but get up country as far as Chch regularly. Budget is $100 max.
Cheers

Hello Folks My SWB Safari has a ECB front bar/nudge setup, it looks substantial but is the usual alloy “eye-candy”. Having said that I kinda like it, and despite the fact that it reduces the approach angle, I want to keep it, at least till it does get hung up and wrecked. I’m making up a chassis exte ...

Recovery points subsitutes
Hello Guys In the weekend I was asked to “recover” a very stuck campervan – a 3.5 tonne vehicle down to its axles at the back. Several others had tried but it was wet and the Prado and Vitara that were present didn’t have the traction or weight. They were also using some dammed dangerous gear/techniq ...

Got the templates made so I can mount sensible recovery hooks (and eventually a winch of the "feet forward" variety) for the front of the Safari. Then right on que my brother in law who just happens to be a fitter welder turned up and took it away to press up next week! My Saffy has an impressive ...

How much tread is effective ?
Gidday guys
How much tread does a MT tyre need to be effective 3mm ?? 6 mm??
To put it another way, when you're looking at secondhand tyres for offroading how much is 50% worn ??
To qualify it a bit I'm after tyres for crawling up Canterbury riverbeds and the tracks in the river headwaters.
Thanks

Need 5 with -10 (maybe to -23 offset to run 33's on a stock Safari).
Not worried about finish as long as they are in good working order.
Need to be able to get them to a freight depot as I'm in Southland.
Cheers

Re: Safari/Patrols - Mileage Versus Years
Hmmm - there is a lot of opinion on "when" the TD42 changed all over the 'Net but from what I can tell is a Factory Turbo will be on the "good" TD42 no matter what age it is. So far as speedo readings go, I always check a vehicles VIR and unless it hasn't been getting warrants it shows up (obviously ...
