with the new motor fitted, im thinking ( hoping) it was just slightly out due to teh motor/ fuel pump diferences

Thanks - looks like the orriginal issue was Torque converter lock up a bit out in top gear, any points on the ecact correct position?

TD27 Fuel pump question
I had an issue with my mistral fluctuating revs in top gear by around 200rpm ( whil travelling 100kph) I have since adjusted the electronic component on top of the geared fuel pump by rotating it ant-clock wise by approx 3mm and the problem has gone. does anyone know the full fucntion of this ...

I checked the inlet/outlet from the pumep etc and all were ok, have since moved the electrical control sensor located on top of the fuel pump anti-clock wise by about 3mm and that has corrected the issue.

Two problems come to mind. First is fuel supply to injection pump or the fuel return from the pump (too free flowing). Did new engine come with pump or did you swap your old one over? thanks for your info- looked like it was a cooing problem that blow the piston - have replaced the motor,
going well apart from one small problem, now is when cruizing along at 100kms the revs jump up by about 100rpm off and on by its self from around 2300 to 2400 rpm
any ideas?

i have blown a piston or broken rings in cylinder number 4 on my Mistral TD27- anyone got any idea of the cause? was not overheating and just cruising along - Engine done 140k IS this diagnoses from a compression test ? the only time i have seen a TD27 or TD42 melt a piston is due to over heating ...
