Re: The "Going to buy some 4x4s" Project
Thanks for the tips. I'm happy to wait for the right one to come up, regarding the FJ. It is a mix between loving the looks, and getting myself a 4x4 that isn't just run of the mill. As for getting something with a Tray that is a Hilux, we would be paying a premium when we could just get another 4x4 ...

The "Going to buy some 4x4s" Project
Hi team I've recently managed to cross one of the biggest hurdles in adulting - purchasing a house. I had to keep away from 4x4s to help make it a reality. Now that it has happened, I am going to try focus on getting both me, and the girlfriend, a couple 4x4s. And this time, not cheap ones, that is ...

Re: 5th 4x4, and I don't even like Nissans
If I was still 12 like I was 5 years ago (I'm currently 22 for some reason) I'd be updating this topic weekly if not daily. Now that I'm 32 I seem to be too busy. Anyway, snapped both the front door handles off. Passenger door is having central locking issues, half the time won't unlock, who cares ...

Re: 5th 4x4, and I don't even like Nissans
Hay big fella. Good to see russels truck went to a good home. I would just get the gearbox checked and fixed then u will know its good and doesnt cause any other issues. Haha yeah good old Russ, what kind of other damage could I do if I just carried on and waited for it to actually go? Aside from ...

5th 4x4, and I don't even like Nissans
Rust killed my first Jero, sold my 2nd one even though it was good and my 3rd was a piece of shit. My super custom was good but the bottom end went. So I've gone down the road of Nissan. Only the 2nd one I've ever owned, and it's basically the same as the first one I owned anyway (D21 Navara) https ...

Re: 1992 SWB Pajero
quite a few fixes you nee to do for the Pajero. Do you have any mod plans for it? Very much Not entirely sure yet. It's very fit for purpose atm, all I do is take it to the beach near my place. Unless the problems are easy or cheap to repair, it'll be scrap once I'm done with it and I'll be onto ...

Transfer case button not working properly? Super custom 4x4
Hey guys, got me a 1990 toyota hiace super custom 4x4. Has a push button transfer case, low range box and manual locking hubs. The 4wd (transfercase) sometimes gets stuck on. The light on the dash stays lit up, and I'm down on power (as I'm driving around with only 50% power going to the back ...

Re: Hiace Super Custom 4x4 project
It seems to be an on and off problem. I think it winds up too easily (almost like it grips too well on even slightly gravely surfaces) so I may need to hit the transfer case button sooner. Only problem is I might get stuck, then have to engage it again and have it wind up enough to not unstick ...

Re: Hiace Super Custom 4x4 project
Vans transfer case seems to be stuck in 4wd mode. I usually unwind it with locking hubs locked, and drive it in reverse on a slippery surface. If I wait till a non slip surface it doesn't unlock and I accidentally did this yesterday. Is there anything else I can do to unwind it? Unwinding it on a ...

Re: Hiace Super Custom 4x4 project
Yeah - good to see you doing it mate. That's more important than what you're doing it with or what extra flash bits are bolted to it... Call me mad but I've always fancied one of those Russian GAZ 4WD vans... Yeah plus the guy I usually go with, Jonny who has the x-trail in the pictures, it's not ...

Re: Hiace Super Custom 4x4 project
Time and money still being an issue not much has changed. I did take it out to ocean beach and gave it a good thrashing through some of the mini paths and up the side of what looks like a historic slip. It did well. Got some spacers on the way for the fronts to give it some more stability. Going to ...

Re: Hiace Super Custom 4x4 project
Not a lot of progress since last post. Saving for a house so projects have to take a back burner xD Current mods in progress once I find parts cheap or in need are: bigger or better off road tyres, rear LSD, snorkel, raise it (possibly without any aftermarket parts, just whats there + bigger tyres ...

Re: Hiace Super Custom 4x4 project
Done a bit of research on how the 4wd button works, is it a vaccum solenoid? It seems to be stupidly temperamental with it actually engaging on and off. My question is leaving it in 4wd mode, will that do any damage to the gearbox and drivetrain through wind up? Keep in mind it has manual front hubs ...

Thanks for the tips guys looks like I've found the right place for a build thread It currently has 215/70/15s on atm or you could call them 26's. Got some 275/70/15s or I've measured them to be 30s and hoping they'll fit on the current rims. I've done a quick measure they should fit inside the ...

Got this last weekend https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/r270/11896322_10155876149110417_2489586494106936095_o.jpg It's a bit rubbish at off roading if I'm brutally honest. I'm not entirely certain how the 4wd system works, it's part time push button. Don't know whether it ...

Basically perfect. I'm a fair bit short and don't want to make an embarrassing offer, really hope I get something like that, a bit of 4x4 work and servicing done so it's ready for a few troubleless years

Re: The "I dont have enuf $ yet but I want a nice Toyota" th
the knzn185 manual conversion available on trade me is likely to bolt straight in. if you can live with a SWB petrol manual, this one has a STACK of good bits on(lift kit/bull bar/winch/muds/snorkel/dual batteries/roof rack etc etc) but has never been thrashed off road. Great value here. at $7600 ...

Re: The "I dont have enuf $ yet but I want a nice Toyota" th
Yeah that's an idea, they aren't no rocket ships it's not like I'm going for any speed records but at the same time I like to be able to overtake easily. What's doing a manual conversion like on a 4x4? With the low range box etc? If I did find one I really liked but it was auto, it'd be a shame to ...

Hey guys After having to sell my LWB '94 manual TD pajero due to excessive rust, I'm on the hunt again for a nice 4x4. I'm a Toyota fanboy truely and it's going to be hard to steer me off getting one. I also want a manual, for my own reasons and you won't steer me off that one. $$$ is an issue right ...

Hey guys got my LWB turbo diesel pajero up for sale. Failed it's wof on some chassis rust. Probably an easy fix for someone. Hey guys, thanks a bunch for the help. I cleaned this stuff up a little so the metal in the connections are actually visible ...
