Just put a RB30DET in my Manual GU Shorty after the head went on the RD28T. Downloaded a 26 page colour instruction manual from an Aussie site, including wiring diagrams! Have had it running for a week but she is going in next week to get a G4 Link and some time on the Dyno. Keep thinking it has ...

Re: 4" lift drive shaft angles (safari swb)
I have got about a 70mm lift in a SWB GU, and run Drop boxes probably more suited to a 100mm lift with no problems what so ever. Without any caster correction it was still driveable, just had to use very fine movements of the steering wheel - wife hated it and wouldn't drive it. With the drop boxes ...

Re: How to measure 'UJ' Angles....
Not a bad idea. All that I had come up with was making something out of wood, with one piece to go against the gearbox out shaft, and the other to go against the driveshaft, all held together with bolts to be able to give you the 'moveability', then once you had the angle set, you just sit it on the ...

How to measure 'UJ' Angles....
Does anyone have any clever methods for measuring top and bottom Universal Joint angles? For example of the rear drive-shaft. Looking at getting adjustable top arms for the SWB Safari to try and get rid of at least some of the vibration, so will need to have a good method for measuring the UJ angles ...

Re: Intermittent Rev Counter Fault...
Found/Confirmed the problem - The camshaft position sensor in the fuel pump. Only $400 ex Aussie! Fortunately all this sensor is doing is taking a Rev reading, but does not effect fueling etc, for for $400 I think I will just put up with no rev counter at idle.....

Lifted the GU Shorty, but have rear Spline problems.....
Have just put a 50mm EFS lift in my SWB GU, and at the back have ended up with about a 70mm lift after settling from about 1,000 k's on teh road. Have come across a small problem though which I have nailed down to being a vibration in the rear driveshaft spline. There is a very very slight ...

Re: Intermittent Rev Counter Fault...
OK, whilst I had the truck in at at auto electricians, I got them to plug in their diagnostic tool to check any fault codes that this intermittent fault has thrown up. Came back with '11', which is Camshaft Position Sensor (Pump). So I take it this is the cam position sensor in the fuel pump....? Is ...

Re: Lifting the GU Shorty.....
Have to agree with the Castor bushes, but again, depends on how high you go. Putting LWB 50mm in based on a recommendation from EFS in Aussie, so predicting about a 65-70mm lift before sagging and a front bar going on. The 3" lift on the GU wandered too much for my liking, so I run 4" drop boxes ...

Re: Strange Behaviour from the GU
The GU 2.8's suffer from a "warm start" problem, where the cylinder in the injector pump wears, causing over fuelling upon starting. Fitting an advance plate, advances timing, and causes the plunger to move in an unworn part of the cylinder (I think ). It is usaually hard to start once the engine ...

Re: Strange Behaviour from the GU
How quickly after start-up does it shut down? Whats the oil pressure doing? If it has an EDIC system and it isnt getting oil pressure, then it will cut power to fuel stop solenoid and engine will shut down. Turn the key, fires up, revs just start to climb, then just dies - so like 1 seconds after ...

Intermittent Rev Counter Fault...
Got an intermittent fault with the rev counter on my 97 GU 2.8 Turbo, mostly at idle, will drop off, then flick back on etc. A few secs after it faults the engine management light comes on, and then off again when it comes back on. At high revs it seems OK, just fluffs about at idle revs. Any ideas ...

Didn't think you would be able to do a body lift with the airbags etc. Remember reading on one of the Aussie forums certifiers not touching anything with an air bag that had a body lift....... Could be wrong........ Might be different here.
