4wd not engaging 95 D21 manual
Hi All I have a 1995 Nissan Terrano Manual with the standard diesel turbo engine. I went for a drive to the beach today, first time for ages engaging the 4wd. I engaged the manual hubs and moved the smaller gear lever from 2H to 4H. No light appeared on the dash to say 4wd was engaged. WTF I asked ...
Re: d21 help
Start with the basics and idle the engine in neutral and check the amount of ATF you have in circulation as the trouble sounds like low fluid to me, check the ground where you park and around the gearbox belly for oil leaks.
Cover the basics first,
hope this helps

Re: SJ413 ute lift
If you mainly drive off road I would suggest a Leaf under raise. It is reasonably easy to do, basically you take the springs off and put them on the inside of the axel, rather than the outside where they were. You do need to extend the steering but the bits are easy to purchase from good 4wd mod ...

Re: Cam belt Versus Timing Chain
I would rather have a noisy idle of a Nissan chain TD27 than the unreliability of a belt. It is only when at idle and cold, once warm and on the road it is quiet as any other. It is one of the main reasons I chose my Terrano over a Surf, plus better value for money, better paint, the gear box is the ...

Re: 1uzfe conversion cost
Cheers for the reponse fellas. So the head has been tested and it has no compression hence its very hard to start, I don't get why, if the head is cracked, its not using water or heating up again. The cost of a conversion is a bit prohibitive at the mo so what options do I look at now?. I'm told ...

Re: Suzuki samurai - wobble
Jack the wheel or front end up off the ground, put a hand at the top of the wheel, one on the bottom, push on each hand and see if you get a slogg or movement. try front and rear edges of the tyre too, if you find movement, get some one else to move the wheel while you look for what is causing it ...

Re: Terrano 1990 rear drum handbrake adjustment
When doing my apprenticeship we were always told to start with the shoes and adjust the so BOTH shoes are rubbing but just so you can just turn it by hand.when you stick the drum back on, check both shoes are sitting and pushing evenly, from memory there is a hole on the back to get to the adjustor ...

Re: I have a small hole in my radiator.....
A1 radiators on St Asaph st. You can take the radiator out and take it in, and may consider a flush while you are there, or if feeling rich or busy, take the vehicle in, advise of the problem and come back when they say They are top people, and even custom make intercoolers, oil coolers etc and ...

Another newbie, with some knowledge
Hi All, I'm Andy from Christchurch. I have just purchased my second Terrano as the wife is pregnant with twins so the old 2 door Terrano just wasn't the best choice. I set up the old 91 2 door nicely with manual hubs, 31-10.5-15 Hankooks, plus a snorkel for the air ram which made a great fuel and ...

Re: Nissan D21 95 rev counter issues
Thanks for the thread, very helpful.
I might just remove the instruments cluster and take the lot to Parrots and Son instruments as they quoted $70 to fix it, got to be cheaper than getting it wrong and buggering it up, besides I only have a big soldering iron, not an electronics type

Nissan D21 95 rev counter issues
Hi All, Be easy and gentle on me since I am new here. I have a 95 D21 Terrano manual. It has a rev counter with a mind of its own. It doesn't work, or is reading we are revving 8 000 rpm at idle, or bounces between the 2 and occasionally it reads correctly. I have heard you can remove the ...

Re: Adding 2-stroke oil to diesel?
If you are adding 2 stroke fuel, check the fuel filter as it quite often just gathers there rather than going into the engine - that is why it is there. You can however add some injector cleaner to the fuel filter to go directly into the engine which made a huge difference to the running of my D21 ...
