Re: bulletproof Chasm track re opened

Here's some videos of how high the water can get in the Clarke and Grey. These are from when we were opening the track back up after it was flood damaged in mid 2011. I think the Footage of the Grey was September 2011 and the river level on the waipuna guage was running at 2.4 meters. The video of ...

What has been said on here is pretty much spot on although the cooler in the radiator is more of a preference thing. I still have mine in the radiator but it is not hooked up, was going to remove it but figured if I had a stuff up it could be used to get me out of the bush. I have been running 2 ...

Hilux and Landcruiser parts clean out

Have acumulated too many parts and need to get rid of some. Those of you that know me or have been to my place know I've got quite a bit of toyota stuff. Not all parts are in A1 condition, many were to be rebuilt for projects that I now have too many of. All parts are as is where is and no warranty ...

Re: WTD: Prado Rear Elocker, 4.8

HI I have a factory 4.88 e-locker out of a LJ71 prado. The crown wheel is the same thickness as the late model 4.56 V6 which i got out of a 2wd 2.8 hiace. I was going to convert the e-locker to 4.56 but ended up buying a detroit locker instead. From what i've read and the shitload off diffs i've ...

Re: Milltown road, Hokitika

If I remember correctly I done this track with Flag around 2008/2009 with a few others from westport and a couple of trucks from grey/hoki. We went a few kms on the grey side of Jacksons and came out at Kaniere. Was pretty stoney and we had to do a bit of work on a few of the banks into and out of ...

The bearings you need to use are the same side bearings as the 4 spider diffs or 'V6' as the yanks call them. These will be the same as what the rear diff in your prado use.

Re: 1KT-TE KZN130 KZN185 Difference?

I have been told that you can't interchange heads between KZN130's and 185's. The 185's have a different cooling port arrangement in the head to the block which is why they don't crack heads like the 130's. Also 185 motors had a manual setup for the throttle in 1996 and 1997 as after that they were ...

Re: Toyota Diff Experts??

As far as I know 2.4TD prados (LJ7#'s) run 4.88 diffs in either auto or manual. The 3.0TD prado's (KZJ7#'s) run 4.3 diffs. 4.88 are axle code G19# and 4.3 are axle code G28#. the # indicates whether its got an open, LSD or 2 pinion or 4 pinion carrier. All 8" toyota diffs are interchangable except ...

Re: LJ78 1KZ Possible Head Crack

There are several versions of the new heads. If possible get the later head with differing porting and valves and change to the later inlet manifold as well. Then get the intercooler that goes with the parts above and you will have a way better power plant. I now wish I had known the later engine ...

May pay to measure the calipers as my KZN130 that i wrecked run 25mm front discs and LN106's run 20mm thick discs. Also even though they bolt on because the caliper is wider you can't bolt your rims on without doing and an IFS hub swap as the rims foul on the caliper. just my 2c

Re: RUST REMOVAL....

It is another case of interpretation as my certifier has said once I change the chassis enough then he'll call it a scratch build! It is a bit silly as MSNZ guys can run harnesses with an authority card yet ORANZ and NZFWDA which also both have raod legal classes can get cages legal but not ...

Torque converter lockup in gears other than 4th will be quite useful as well as far as i'm aware lockup in 1st gear cannot be acheived in in A34#'s as the valve body needs to be modified to do this. Hi Richard have you managed to get a new brush holder assembly for your winch? Flag said to twist their arm as they'll want to sell you a complete motor . the plan is to fit a missile launcher style switch inside the cab, when it's turned on and vehicle in 1st gear it will trick the computer and lock up the torque converter, it will also be wired via th brake pedal switch, so when the brakes are engaged, the lock up turns off, release the brakes and ...

I done the same thing to my 84 doublecab, used the auto also. auto is around 80mm longer than standard hilux box so driveshafts had to be changed.
