Hi im looking at a 2.8 hilux its a 91 non turbo done 320k it seems to run well no smoke been told it dosent burn oil. But when you take the oil cap of it blows back badly now generally thats a sign of a stuffed engine. But im just wondering if these engines are different or am i right in thinking it ...

right well im keen to keep costs down really so was thinking of cuting and turning the front axle. if i do a spring flip as well will the driveshaft still be long enought? yeah disk brakes and power steering are also on the list. Is certification easy to get does it cost much?

lifting fj40

Hi im thinking of doing a shackle reversal and spring over axle on my project 40. Im sure lots have done this and want to know how hard it was to certify is there anything major they look at? How much does it cost? Would you recomend it or does it get to top heavy? Thanks

yeah thanks ill do that sometime whenever its fine for you. Do you run your lpg all the time or do you swith it to petrol for offroading.

yeah i thought about a 3b but hear they have about 80 hp which is a bit slow really but would consider it. Just trying to find other options if there are any. The 2f dosent seem that bad the only thing that i dont like is the fuel consumption ive got a lpg tank which i could fit only needs its cert ...

diesel swap

Hi i have a 40 series landcruiser with a 2f in it but wanted to swap that for a diesel is a ld28 a easy conversion? has any one done one? our is there a better engine to use i want one reasonably cheap with desent power and preferably a bolt straight in job. Any suggestions?

well i pulled them apart today and the right front had been rubbing so i just cleaned them up abit and completely regreased everything. Hopefully that will solve it if not ill just get new ones does anyone have a number of someone who sales them. All i could find was toyota and they wanted $2oo+ for ...

yeah i do all my work my self done lots of cvs etc just never heard of this bushing before but know where you mean so im sure ill see it. Well il get the bit ordered and have a look on the weekend. will let you know how i get on thanks for the help

okay that sounds like it could be the problem as i do have some movement. Im not sure what bit you mean thought does it slide in the spindle so then go in between that and the cv. Do you know any link that might explain it a bit more?

yeah thats what im thinking but ive pulled it apart like 5 times and havent seen a problem.It has got worse this time so maybe there will be something more noticable but do you think it could be anything other than the axle maybe transfer case or something? Thanks for the reply

well i got the car for free because the previous owner was told the con rod was snapped but it turns over etc and valves move so i think it is out of timing and i found part of the adjuster it was snapped in half and the chain is really loose but i cant adjust it. I found this m and im missing part ...

the lpg guy said that i have to get a sealed pipe to vent it (which they have) and that they have to cut the pipe but if i weld up the brackets (done) bolt it in and drill the holes for the pipes etc they will do the rest said it shouldnt cost much so it sounds good to me cheaper than buying petrol ...

i dont think it has a vent box which could cause a problem then. The tanks a bit rusty but not much the test expired in 99 so needed a new one anyway. by the sounds of it it might be easyier to leave it on the back just worried about smashing on a rock. Thanks for the help

its a copper pipe from memory it already runs along the side so was goin to make a hole and have it come in that way so shouldnt be near the d/shaft. so where would i need to make the hole to vent it to?

cheers for the help i went in the toyota place in town and they reackon anything thats done over 300k will have something major brake e.g. diffs drive shaft is that so? cause they reackon anything under $14000 is cheap cause of a reason. Thanks

Yeah thanks a cooler that sounds like a plan. Now i just need to find the right car i want an 80 series with a 4.2 turbo diesel and must be a manual so if anyone has 1 for 8-10k or less give us a yell.
