Thanks for that I think 1kz-te in the hilux is less prone to head cracking due beter cooling unlike the surf and maybe prado. $6000 getting up there isn't it. I just keep second guessing myself spending over 20k on somthing that has 200,000km on clock but seems to be the general going rate!

Head was found cracked so new head going on with recon short block exhaust EGT will also get checked and professionally checked and fuel pump set up. Hopefully this is all towards a good cause?

Short block sounds good but yes I think head is Chinese but 12 month 20,000k warranty have a look on trade me they all on there.cheers
