Re: where to get hilux steering arm studs
Here's a keyway in a 4 stud setup... Not meaning to thread jack, but we had the same issue with our studs coming loose, and a few months ago we broke them all off and lost steering, So I took the parts to work and cut 8mm key ways, should give it more strength as its not just driving off the studs ...

Re: DIY Wheel Alignment
I put the truck on jack stands, remove wheels, and clamp a straight edge on to each hub against the WMS to measure from. I find that much more accurate than trying to measure against the tyres, but many have used the tyres without issue.

ARB RDCKA air compressor rebuild question
Does anyone know how the counterweight thing comes of the motor shaft? Is it threaded on there, or pressed on, or... ? I'm talking about part number 28 in this diagram... http://www.polyperformance.com/mfg_files/4x4/ARB/RDCP-600.jpg I'm giving the old compressors some TLC, and would like to be able ...

Are you worried about high speed handling now that your ackerman angle is reversed with the tie rod in front using those arms?

Are you talking the inner axle seal inside the ball on the housing? If so ...I heard a rumour that the GQ/Y60 inner axle seals are the same as used on the hilux solid axles. If that is true, these are two options which might work for you: http://www.marlincrawler.com/axle/front-axle-parts/front ...

I've read that they are pretty rubbish ...if you're talking about the same little spot calipers I'm thinking of. Maybe ok for a little sports car with small tyres, but probably a different story for a 4wd and 35s. We're in the same boat and don't know which option to choose. I have sourced some mr2 ...

Where to get auto electrical bits?
I need to get a few odd electrical bits, and I realised I don't have a good source with a good range of electrical bits at good prices ....so, does anyone have any good suggestions of where I should shop? (online or an old fashioned store in Ak, either would suit)
Thanks,
Thanks,

We have a 83 petrol gearbox here (at least I think it's still here, buried underneath some other junk), but I thought it was a 4 speed?

The coils can still be way down on output, even though the resistances are still in spec. Try pick-a-part for a cheap coil to test with - some 4 cylinder toyota's have the same coils, and toyota previa's/lucida's had the same igniter as the model we have (different 1uzs have different igniters). You ...

Ok, here we go... Short side = 414mm Long side = 767mm The axle seal surface measured at 34.95mm, so I guess its supposed to be 35mm (when new)? I measured both a prado and an FJ40 CV, and the distance from the thrust face, to the surface on the inner star where the circlip sits up against (the big ...

Opps, I forgot about this, sorry I'll go dig the axles out and measure them this arvo. Re: locker in the front or the rear first
My 2c - ARB air locker in the front ...many will say rear, but I reckon a front locker is far more helpful. A rear locker is often very little help if you can't get the front up something because the critical wheel is not spinning. We've only ever had a front ARB in our Nissan, and when we got our ...
