Re: gps,which type?

I have been using my android based phones and OziExplorer. Download the Topomaps, convert and go. Never had any issues with reception. But need to get a phone with GPS receiver. Never worried about power consumption or it going to full power mode as it is plugged into to cigi lighter . The phones I ...

Re: diff locker problem

The ECU for the locker is in the passenger's foot well , left side below the fan, behind the plastic panel. You could have a blown fuse. From memory the locker ecu needs to see that the truck is in low range and 4wd. I think it gets this signal from the switches in the transfer case being activated....

Nice truck and some good work going on there. Great to see people giving it a go.
Intercooler looks like it would work fine for normal driving but slow off road would get heated up by the turbo below it. Suggest a heat shield and a fan if it would fit?

Re: Nissan PTO winch - winding the rope on the top of the drum

The winch can run from either direction... The gear is symmetrical....

However if you are thinking of using your rev for winch in when in a std truck you will run into problems when you want to drive and winch at the same time......

They will be going in opposite directions..

Nice little wagon. Most of those things are easily fixed.
Don't worry about the headlight washer.... its useless....
As for a good parts supplier, here in auckland we try Ash Semmens who is on Face Book. Nice guy and normally has a Prado in bits at any time.

Wire rope is a pain on the butt.... But it has its place.. As for jamming up? How is it jamming... Wire spooling up in the middle or to one side? Or is the drum jamming. Its common for both steel and plasma to build up depending on how you are winching.... Its good practice to unspool the rope and r...

Re: Diesel turbo compressor surge?

Surge is what it sounds like to me... Snip from another forum,. Surge is the reversal of air flow through the compressor. The most common cause (in our trucks) is the rapid deceleration of the turbo due to loss of drive pressure to the turbine when you go from WOT to no pedal. Normally this is annou...

Re: A340 Auto manualising completed

Torque converter is activated by a switch which you turn on and off. No you don't need to flick into neutral when stopping. It still behaves like a normal auto. Just coast to a stop or brake. Just need to remember to select 1st again or you will start off in last gear selected.

As a rule of thumb Toyota's fitted PTO gears to the Manual trans BJ74's... But the Auto can have the PTO gear retro fitted as they all share the same split transfercase. The later model 70 series... (prado) also share the same split transfercase but were never spec'd for a PTO winch. As said you can...

Can make it work without ECu, just need to manualise it... been done . But with some clever thought you can install a separate trans controller. Lite spitronics unit from SA.

Re: ln65 with a 1kz

The only choice for a Toyota PTO output is from a land cruiser transfercase... Like what is fitted to the old shape prado... LJ or KZJ. But you will have to put in the pto gear. Or an early 70 series. There are older versions but these are easier to get. If you are going 1KZ then finding a unit with...
