I am tossing up with trying to retro fit a later model Surf wheel carrier or get a rear bar made with a wheel carrier on it.

Getting curved supports inside the body might be difficult.

On friday I helped reroof the mother in law's house and put in a skylight in the lounge with 3 of my brother inlaw's. A 50mm receiver would be cool.

Has anyone fitted a later model surf/hilux swing away wheel carrier to any earlier surf? Looks like the rear mounts might be close enough.

I would like to replace the factory rear bumper with a custom unit that could handle a high lift jack and possible a spare wheel mount as well.

The correct torque settings are 20 for the inner nut and 58 lbs for the outer which is what had me worried about doing this by hand.

I don't know why the two nuts have different torque settings so I was a bit apprehensive about doing this by feel.

Well this looks like a pretty straight forward job. I have a nice new set of manual hubs, all the washers and nuts etc and all the necessary tools except a 54mm socket to un/do the large nuts. I have a wrench that will go this big but how do I set the torque correctly on these nuts without a socket ...

Don't know if I want that much work really.

Installing lockers I would be comfortable with but not much beyond that.

A SAS conversion would have to be done by someone else.
