Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

easy enough to check.
see if there is signal at the pump on start up. if none see if ecu is getting power. most immobiliser's simply cut the power to the ecu.

Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

talking of sensors, check water temp sensor. i would have to check the book but they are usually on the block. if thats been loosened or damage it can cause starting issues. has it ever had the ecu repaired? really common for ecu caps to fail due to age. i see quite a few surf guys with the same iss...

Re: Diesel tuner

injectors usually send some signs when they want replacement. rough idle and run, some smoke maybe. if there´s none of it why change. they cost some serious money if oem fuel economy turns bad before any of those things happen. also the ecu tends to adjust for the injectors so you don't rough idle ...

Can you elaborate on this a bit more ? Or paste the specific wording that rules a pedal swap as needing cert . I'm not arguing or disagreeing . Just seems dumb if you are bolting oem stuff in ? from lvvt site Gearbox substitution  the OE gearbox cross-member has not been heated, cut, or welded; an...

Re: Problems With Manual Conversion LN130 91 2l-te Surf.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing as my auto trans is on the way out. My question is whether there is any other major hurdles, that I should be aware of? Is the clutch master cylinder a problem to get right? does it need to be road legal? if so it will need a cert. Is it not possible to do bolt ...

what was the cause of the crank failure? any idea of what power/torque output it has? what injection system is it running? just wondering if its sheer big power, oil issue or vibration issue. i havn't been on the patrol forums for a bit but there was billet cranks being made. however theres a fair b...

the max pressure on the sidewall will have a load rating next to it. the two will give you a rough idea for road use. if your up around 3 tonne, judging from other tires i've had, you will be near or at max pressure. tire places just give a generic BS figure thats usually only work for typical car t...

if you guys get a chance to speak to these turbo guys, see if you can get as much data as possible and see if we can make it publicly available. these engines are getting old and no one is going spend the $$$ to do the testing required to build a turbo that suits. the amount of sales they would get ...

Do you have a watercooled ct20 or the non watercooled one . The late watercooled one is considered an upgrade for the early one so it could be worth doing that . I have that on a 5l and it goes great the early one (round port) doesn't fit 3l/5l engines. the later CT20 that fit 3l/5l are all water c...

the resistor will be for the after glow. they usually run the after glow until engine heats up. it may not have been the control box. can also be the temp sensor (it will keep going if it thinks the engine is cold) and can be the relay. the relay may have welded the contacts together . so just keep ...

anyone knows if the ECU in the KZJ78 is much different from the KZJ95? the tuning boxes are made for KZJ95 but I guess it shall work the same? it works mainly by changing injection timing and fuel/air mixture and should raise power from 125 to 146 HP and 295NM to 336 NM in it´s standard setting (le...

heres one for ya, the boost pressure is dropping pretty badly from 9ish psi to 4psi, only in second gear @ high rpms 2.5k-4k. doesnt seem to do it in any other gear. is this the result of the crap factory exhaust? wouldnt it do it in every gear due to engine airflow being the same? does it do it at...

i would set it fairly close. just far enough apart to stop it constantly turning the fan on and off. a 5 deg difference is a lot of heat energy. also have a bypass switch so you can turn the fan on constantly. see what your normal running around unloaded temp is like as thermostat will dictate that ...
