Re: KIWI 4x4 Teams Challenge
Tried to enter last year, we didn't receive a reply. I'm keen to get there sooner or later but it's the South Island winch challenge series has started & a lot of people will be doing that.

Re: Davies Craig electric water pump and controller
I've been running a rear mounted radiator for years on a patrol, have just used original engine driven pump. Never had any problems. I'd ditch the electric pump, more hassle that you don't need.

Re: Why no Maxxis Tyres?
I'm the opposite mate, my Treps are 37's and I use them mostly on the West Coast. Them and twin locked gets me a lot of places. I did a trip late last year in which my lockers were playing up due to the compressor having a cardiac arrest and I drove through mud etc on thge treps and open diffs where...

Re: Why no Maxxis Tyres?
Club did a farm trip late last year, majority on 35" silverstones one on 37 Treps. V8 so plenty of power but no traction on a typical wet, muddy farm, huge difference. Wouldn't buy treps for NZ conditions.

I did something similar to my triple blocks, took out every 2nd block on all 3 rows & sharpened up the side biters. Still going 4 years later but 2 have bad air leaks. Only use them for woodhill & maratoto now, running silverstones for farms & comps etc.

I'd put that in the cheap chinese crap basket. Looks like the same stuff sold by Mudstuck. From experience I wouldn't bother.

Re: Best place to buy synthetic winch rope?
Don't waste your money on cheap chinese rope, it's crap & won't last. First time you use it good, 2nd time maybe good after that no good. If your only doing the occasional winch stick to wire, last a lot longer than cheap rope just have to take the proper safety precautions. Otherwise spend the ...

Changed mine to a screw on arrangement running 80 series bushes with drop boxes, not road legal. Did it to eliminate stupid rod to chassis bushes that keep failing & to correct castor angle.

Depends what your doing with it, patrol diffs are way stronger than 80's, seen plenty of 80's fail.
Re: Novawinch
Can't really give advise on electric winches as I run PTO but IF you ever need help after purchasing a Novawin Phil Clarke is excellent to deal with, unlike another person who sells a different brand of winches in NZ.

Maxxis Buckshot are worth a look, reasonably priced. I put them on a LWB patrol, drove to chch from auckland for a trip up the rivers in the Canterbury high country, went well. Decent road manners, didn't really get in too much mud. Don't know about longevity as I sold the truck.

Re: 1990 Safari Death Wobble, and a Clunk.
9 out 10 times this problem will be caused by panhard bushes, even if they look & feel ok I've changed them & it fixed the problem. Pull your panhard off get some genuine Nissan bushes pressed in & it should sort it out.

They were aiming it more at the tradie with a 4x4 ute, came to our club meeting last week to explain. I agree $80 for driving around in a flat, muddy paddock is expensive & doesn't interest me, but I think they have quite a few going. Biggest concern will be the safety aspect, hopefully they'll ...

Hampidjan in timaru for factory made overbraid Dynex Dux its super expensive shit but you get about 10 times the life out of it compared to other brands  Dynex Dux is very good rope. I'm not convinced about the benefit of overbraid though. I used it on one of my ropes, good : rope stays the s...

I'm looking at doing the same soon. Thinking rear the best option, slightly better protectored, existing mounting arms, front would need a mod on drivers side & panhard in the way. Cons hard to get the diff head out unless everything is un-boltable & I bend the rear tie rod more than the fro...
