the other option is to find a qt32t, tho may need gearbox and all. can't remember the differences in bellhousing.
its a stronger engine but you will need to change the injection pump as most are ecu controlled.

Re: QD32T Boost Compensator
the down side of connecting it to the wastegate line is that it can over fuel for a little bit if its tuned fairy hard. but biggest thing is if there is a leak downstream of the turbo. for eg if you split a joiner (or an IC) you will be getting a lot less boost at the engine but the injection pump w...

i tend to follow the patrol zd30 due to the navara also using the zd30, but in lower powered version that doesn't have a lot of the issues the patrol/terrano version does.

Re: QD32T Driving with Timing Advance Solenoid ON
might pay to check the operation of the solenoid or what fuel goes where. if solenoid is open in normal use (engine hot) then theres probably a restriction on the return to the tank. this may be a setup for cold areas only. having hot fuel go straight back into the pump inlet is not good in a warm-h...

As above there is no accurate diagnosis as to why it happens but there are some very obvious things that don't help the situation. Some terrano's have a 3 litre engine that has a reputation as a grenade. What is it that goes bang and why? no one really knows for sure. nissan have never said there was any fault let alone the cause. theres several things. one is piston or rings issue. there is a number of piston/ring changes ove...

So tweake you are correct as it block the return flow, however I don't see how this can cause damage, my background is electronics not mechanics so please bear with me, thanks it sounds similar to what mitsi (i think) uses. injection pumps pump a large amount of fuel through the injection pump and ...

Re: QD32T Driving with Timing Advance Solenoid ON
Is there any long term problem (to the engine) to drive it with the Timing Avance Solenoid always ON? quite possibly. i'm not sure on the way those ones work. i suspect its a block the return flow setup. constant use means the IP won't get proper cooling. how did you set the pump injection timing? ...

as above, probably old oil or the wrong oil in it.
its not uncommon for people and mechanics to use incorrect spec oil.

Re: inlet manifold tech
I can see a problem with tuned length runners and that is they will only be tuned for one engine speed. As the frequency of the pulses increases the runners would need to be shorter to get the same effects. by mem from some very old books, intake tuning gives about effects about a 500 rpm band widt...

tweake pressure waves like sound waves will diminish with collisions with solids and other waves , losing potential energy that could assist in charging the cylinder. like a tunnel rammed petrol motor you are utilising these pressure waves to increase v.e an essentially get boost for free. on mr tu...

Re: Poor Man's Boost
no point increasing crack pressure, that might cause other issues. tuning NA diesels is tricky. you need egt gauge for it. my understanding is they get hot really quick. also you have to figure what your leeway is. eg dirty air filter reducing air flow may be enough to cause piston/head failure. if ...

Re: inlet manifold tech
from what i gather, the issue is head design. for some reason the long runners don't work well so they tend to focus more on just outright flow. the short runners match the head and tend to flow better.
build a new head design and i'm sure tuned intake would work better.

Re: inlet manifold tech
short runners are perfect if you plan on making power at 10000rpm but the td42 is fairly rev limited so will benefit a longer runner to achieve higher v.e , and with boost a runner can be shorter to achieve the same v.e. disregarding the numbers check an om606 manifold or a banks power manifold no ...

any fuel coming out the return fuel pipe when you crank?
i can't remember if those had the mesh filter in the fuel inlet.
but vege oil/ bio diesel can gum up pumps. have some pics of a VE which was stuffed due to it.

i think its time for the next evolution. a quick google search will reveal a miriad of 24valve diesel in europe making up to 550hp. is that even feasible on a td42? they are not far off that. however they are breaking cranks rather regully which is imposing a limit. the 2 valve per cyl head does ma...

i don't know the petrols sorry.
all i can suggest is jump onto the surf forums and find the method to get the codes manually. that way you can do it yourself in case it was a code reader issue.
possible someone has written down if there is any other non-ecu item that can trip the engine light.

check water in the fuel sensor. assuming diesel.
otherwise you need to let us know what engine you have and also exactly which light came on and what was happening at the time it came on.
