Re: X5 Project.
So if your rope normally gets bunched up are you not concerned with the minimal clearance between the winch and the fan? Nice fab work , but the winch / fan clearance is a red flag for me as with even a slight even rap of the rope it's going to hit / break the plastic fan I had same thought, can't ...

Re: X5 Project.
Nice work! Good to see a winch bar with a proper view of the drum so you can spot a snarl up before it gets serious. In case you haven't seen it already, check out http://fozroamer.com/ - kinda similar build with a Subaru Forester. Cheers Clint I think most manufacturers dot have view of the drum a...

Re: X5 Project.

The alloy cover is a good look... not being critical, as I cant see the detail but just check everything is still ok after you first you that in anger.. its a large winch and the framework looks a little light.. especially with the mounting in shear. Have a gander at Toms Offroads gallery to g...

Re: X5 Project.
wow! didn't think anyone would make a winch bar for a X5. you will lose some of your 40mm front lift Your right no one does, Going Xrox for a ford ranger, will need some mods to fit & work. sim shape & width so hopefully it's just the mounting that needs work. lucky that being a 2001 I don'...

"chassis"? (insert raised eyebrow here) :) I know what you mean. What does your X5 have in terms of traction devices (eg lsd in rear, open diffs but with traction control etc)? Open diffs, Hill decent button & electric traction... this model was built when BMW was in bed with Range Ro...
