Hello,
I just found oil on the rim after a drive, I'm not sure how long it has been that way, but I know it was ok yesterday at lunch time.
When checked, I found one of the small studs was missing, I tried to torque the rest, and another one broke very, very easily.
What should I do? I know very little about this parts.
p.s: sorry about my poor english
EDIT: I guess it would be wise to note the truck is a 80 series Land Cruiser with part-time 4wd, 1hz engine.
URGENT HELP NEEDED - Oil on the rim/wheel
Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED - Oil on the rim/wheel
Those studs hold the drive flange on, this is the part that transmits drive from the axle to the hub. They can break when they become loose so it would be best to replace all of them. The hardest part is getting the broken studs out, however sometimes they are already loose and come out easy.
It would be helpful if you can tell us your location.

Hate to state the obvious but there's a lot wrong with this picture, broken hub studs, axel or bearing seals most probably axel, broken wheel stud. Do you want to do the work your self? Save people explaining what to do. Or if you just need to know what's gone wrong.

Looking at the color of that oil, It may need to be changed. Is it diff oil or wheel bearing grease?

I'm considering wether I can do it myself or just wait for my mechanic to have free time.
The wheel stud broke last sunday while changing a flat tire (lame, i know) while being stuck in mud.

I honestly wouldn't know
Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED - Oil on the rim/wheel
I would at the least undo the rest of the studs on the flange and pull the axle out.. to check wheel bearings and to check if there is any more damage.. from there if things are reasonably good repack bearings , get new studs and good to go.. IMHO that's what I would do first..

I just checked alldataDIY but they only have the petrol model.
Should I still get the subscription for stuff that isn't engine-related?

If you repack the wheelbearings, Replace the Axle tube seal, this seal stops diff oil from leaking thru to the wheelbearings
