on trademe, not the vehicle but the question asked
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 185488.htm
has anybody noticed the first question?
does this vehicle exist?
Wouldnt it be a leap backwards in performance?
from my understanding the lux is 2 chassis joined in the middle? (from what ive been told)

Yeah, you can buy portals in oz, well over $10k from the place I last saw selling them though
Re: on trademe, not the vehicle but the question asked
excuse the ignorance... what are portals? googled it and marks was the firts hit. they had portal axles. look like unimog axles.
Re: on trademe, not the vehicle but the question asked
Yeah, portal axles, as run by the mogs. Well, thats assuming this is what the GU owner is talking about.
Re: on trademe, not the vehicle but the question asked
Oh, and the rough drive away price for Marks Adapters Portal conversion is around $22,000Au
Re: on trademe, not the vehicle but the question asked
yeah, i know all of that, but why would someone want to swap a gu with portals for a coil sprung lux with a v8????????????
Re: on trademe, not the vehicle but the question asked
why would it be a step back in performance? That lux looks very well setup but surely mog axles are better than a normal axle. apart from the obvious... he wants to swap a toyota for a nissan WTF... as long as the gu is coil sprung and v8 i would keen as... apart from the nissan-ness
Re: on trademe, not the vehicle but the question asked
I thought he meant a step back for the GU owner, going to an old Hilux

moderator delete that mess. i cant even get the screen across to the edit button.
Hi, Each axle $3450,4 wheels and tyres x $2oo,plus two extra tyres free.Axles would be complete with brake rotors and calipers(two calipers on each front hub)rear axle has disc brakes.I would then sell the chassis at scrape value (which I think steel is at $60 ton)

6800 is not too bad when you consider that you get 4-6" of extra ground clearance (plus lockers?) plus a stronger setup.
Theres a build thread on ih8mud of a dude with an 80 series and mog portals, he runs 39.5" tyres on only a 2" suspension lift
