4WD wanted

Hi everyone

Because my surf still isn't back on the road, and who knows when it will be. My 11 year old keeps asking when we'll be going 4wding so I'm on the lookout for a cheap 4wd.
Just be for easy/medium club stuff & safaris.
North Island, prefer lower half.
Up to $3000, possibly a bit more if has decent mt+ tyres, snorkel, winch bar ...
Prefer surf obviously but would look at anything with low range and more than 2 seats.
Wof/reg, or easy to get one.
No older than 1990.

A suggestion you may not of thought of is a W163 Mercedes Benz engines vary in size from 2.7l turbo diesel to 5.5 litre V8 they have a chassis with low range and and the traction control helps get around the issues with wheel lift they are quite cheap at the moment if it is going to be just a toy i would go with petrol

1997-2005 after that they went to a unibody setup when they were initially developing the original MLs they were planning on using them to replace the g wagen but then they got trendy

in the current market, i reckon $3000 will only buy you a surf with a blown head or similar. Some sellers have unrealistic expectations.

Yep your not wrong. That's why I'm looking at pretty much anything. But prices for others can be silly too, we looked at a 93 swb Bighorn locally, no WOF, rust around windscreen, other small stuff reflecting its age, sold for over $4200.

Oh well, keep looking. There has been the odd vehicle that looks alright advertised around top of North Island but a bit far to travel.

Got a 96 185 surf, v6. WOF/Rego. $3000. Drove back from Taupo alright. A bit rough around the edges but hay aren't we all. It is 25 years old!
